Well since the fishing sucks in Port McNeill ( unless it was thursday morning where I hooked 6 springs by myself), we decided to head back up to Port Hardy and see some different country.

It was an amazing day.

Left the dock at 5:30 and was back at 13:30 with a limit of springs between 16 and 23 lbs, two coho - 7&9 lbs and three hali's at 22, 35 and 46. We also released two coho:-( and lost three springs:redface:.

We went exploring among the islands as well and along the way we saw an Orca cow and calf, two humpbacks, two sealions and a bunch of porpoises, including 4 that played in our wake as we were running. The wife really loved that!!!

The hali's

The boat is amazing, for 50 miles of running and three hours of trolling, it burned less than 10 gallons of fuel. Got to love those Yamaha engines!!!!

Cheers

Totally awesome Sitka. You are having one hell of season up there. I can't get a hali over 25 lbs. for the life of me on the west coast. I think I might have to head up there next year and try it out. I still have a couple of spots to try but our biggest so far is 25. Good eats anyways but would like to catch some bigger ones. Still haven't hooked into any yellow eyes either.

Glad to see the Hewes is working like it should. As you know from the Hewes forum I almost bought one but found the Sculpin on ifish. I still like the Hewes alot and saw a Pacific Cruiser and an Ocean Pro out last Friday about 10 mile mark off of Bamfield. They looked like they handled the conditions great (2-3 meter swell) as I caught up to them and raced them in:twisted:.
