The regs saying that 3 point and 6 point bulls are open for hunting in region 7-20. My question: does 3 point opening include 4 point and 5 points bulls or it is strictly 3 and 6 point bulls? If it does include 4 and 5 point bulls why the regs mentioning 6 point bulls separately in the same timeframe? In 3 point definition it is described as 3 point or greater, which should include any bull that has 3 or more points... I am confused:icon_frow. Can anybody enlighten me on this matter, please? Thank you all.

Good question, I alway expected it would be 3 point and greater. Now you got me thinking??????

The way I read the regulations, is 3 point or better within zone 7-20A and outside that zone it is 6 points only.

MU-20 says 6 points which means 6 points or better.

MU-20 ZONE A says 3 points which means 3 points or better.

At least that's my interpretation and I'm sticking to it.:-D

If we interpreted literally, then the 6X7 I shot last year in 7-32 wasn't legal.

That is correct, during a three point season as long as one side has at least three points it is legal.

During a 6 point season at least one antler must have at least 6 points. That 6x7 is prefectly legal as were the 6x5 and 4x4's i've taken during 3 point season in 7-50

Thank you guys. I found my mistake - the key word is "portions" of some MUs...

3 points or MORE, on One antler, either side left or right, one side can have 3 points so long as points all are at least 1 inch in length, other side dont matter wether it has 'NO' points or even if there is no antler on one side at ALL ! also the zone for 3 points or better is not confined to private land or within 2000 meters! , a vast portion of Zone 7-20A for the GOS ,3 point bull elk and antlerless deer season is CROWN land ! So as long as you can hit something about the size of a deer standing still, broadside, at about 50 meters with a shooting rest you should be good to GO ! Nothing less than a 375 H+H magnum will be ad'equate! and have at least 275 grn bullits!

Thank you elkdome for the support - coincidentaly I have a new 375 H & H heym express and it is good to hear that it is powerful enough for those huge elks... But I was contemplating about the bullet weight and decided to go with 300gr despite your advice of 275... The elk shoud drop dead even if I miss!!! :-)

375 H&H with 300 grainers should do the trick! even if you miss, the muzzel blast should blind and deafen the elk long enough for you to finish the job with your hunting knife! I have complete and total faith in you!

I thought a heart attack would do the trick... Now you are saying that I need to buy a REAL HUNTING KNIFE to fihish off those mighty elks! Those little puny skinners I presently own would just irritate any rutting angry elks... If you happen to know someone who may make a custom FINISHING knife for me that would match my 375 H&H, please PM.
:-)

I know just the custom knife maker, you have met him, my friend Peter, a nice one will set you back about $500-$600 bucks! but thats 'peanuts' for a guy with a brand new Hiehm 375H&H, and besides a new knife will be sharp so you will be 3 times as deadly as you are at this point! lol
