I'm looking at getting a wall tent. I have looked at the Deluxe wall tents and Davis. Has anyone got one of the ones from Surplus Herby's. I'm also stuck between a 12'x14' or a 14'x16'. I would also like to know if anyone has used their poles as they seem quite cheap. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

I don't know what SIR or Wholesale have, but Cabela's has several options in a couple different styles.

I've seen what Surplus Herby's has...you should ask about them.

I've got a 14X20 deluxe & love it. I would go for the 14 x 16 over the 12 x 14. They fill up quick, espcially when you have 4 guys. One thing to consider for sure is to go for 5' side walls. Many of the less expensive tents have 4' sidewalls & it eats up allot of your standing room. Overall, the deluxe tent is by far some of the best money I've ever spent on hunting gear. I could easily live in my camp for months!

If in Doubt go with the 14 x 16.x 5A little bigger is way nicer. And a front porch is highly recommended. I bought my 14x16 with front porch, from a gentleman here in the LML two years ago. He distributes from a major Man. for a very, reasonable price comparatively speaking. Quality product with All the bells and whistles with out breaking the bank. Just took her back into him a few days ago to add a second stovepipe hole in a different wall. A really nice guy who also happens to be a very knowledgable hunter that uses and hence knows his products well.

I have 2 wall tents and both I had 6' side walls put in, what a differance and not much in cost. For a group of 4 or 6 it makes a big differance. We use double bunks along the wall and you end up with lots of space.

tuchodi is right, I forgot to add that even 5'6" walls like I had put in makes a HUGE difference.
Tuchodi do you have a pic of those bunks in the tent?

I priced out the 2 and they are quite comparible, but Davis is a little cheaper. Is there a preference one or the other? If anyone has pictures, I would like to see them as well.

I bought one of the 10X12's at Surplus herbies when they had their big sale each year. They had a coupon in the paper for 50% off any one camping item, so I grabbed a wall tent, it cost $260. This past year I got the poles at 50% so like $60. So now I can actually set it up and see what its like.

Call Alpha Tent & Awning in Burnaby.

I am on my second tent now. Started with a 12 X 16 with 5 ' sides and now have a 14 X 16 with 6' sides. I chose vinyl as it is waterproof and I don't horsepack it. The pole system is great but your looking at a bag
8' long and another 60 ish pounds.

My ends are each removable so that I can move them inboard to the next rafter and have an awning if I want or less area to heat when it's reaLLY cold. With removable ends it's easier to roll it up and also dry it or clean it at the end of the year. There is big vents in the gables so unless you are continually boiling water there's minimal condensation.

I had 6 big windows installed as well to allow lot's of light. These also open to ventilate when I'm cajun frying something and the pepper smoke is killing our eyes.
