When did it become mandatory for non resident big game hunters to hire a guide, and when did the "accompanied hunts" for relatives or non BC Canadians happen?
I believe it was 1949 Clark, the same time as territories were created.
The permit to accompany policy is dated 1985, don't know what existed before that.

Just wondering, because reading an old hunting book (circa 1975) there is references to a group of residents and non residents, none outfitters, hunting together for big game, including moose, elk, caribou and sheep.
Can't recall the name of the book, it just popped into my head so I asked.:p

I got the 1949 date from Leo Rutledge's book on the history of guide-outfitting in BC.
