Thats all great news, glad you had good time and caught lots of fish! But I wish to inform you with all respect that a good and decent man never hunts elk without a large cooler of smoked salmon, just a pointer. not meant to be harmfull advice! welcome back!

I sure noticed all the boat launches have been busy and there are loads of vehicles parked along 16W along the Skeena.

Glad you enjoyed your trip to this neck of the world.

yes we did enjoy our trip..except for the outrageous fuel prices..

Terrace as usual was exellent from the wonderful halibut and chips @ The Northern Motel..HIGHLY recomended..to the Wild DUCK campground close by the boat launch..great folks and great facility..

Thee fishing was slow for most as the run was so small..DFO said they almost cancelled the spring salmon season numbers were THAT low still was kinda slow for most..we had three days out of 10 that we got NADA ..one day I had 11 fish on..

Joe did one of our sockeye up on the barbque..it was delicious indeed..

The Kalum fish havnt arrived yet...and the numbers of boats was down from previous years but yes lOTS for the little parking lot ...

hey ya the fishing for springs is slowing down here too and for you they have not found the body yet i drifted down the next day after it happend and the hatchery had both jet boats on the river looking for the lady but no luck so far it's really sad to here that happen i know a fellow in PG that is really good friends with the person that flipped the canoe and he's having a really hard time because of his kids that seen his mom disapire i might go for a drift this afternoon to go look again the spot they flipped the boat is a nasty part of the river too so it does not look good to find her at all.
on the other note im glad you guys did good on your trip my uncles and dad have been just killing the springs up river on the skeena every day they have been hooking up to 10 fish a day
We need pics steven where are they

it was slow for us, I hooked into only one, 33 lb female. I will post pic when I get it in a couple days. Only a half dozen fish in total between 10 people in the 3 days I was there, size from 19 lbs to 55

wow thats not as bad as you may think some guys were there a week and never even touched a salmon...and they HAD a jet boat each..

The springs were not in the same location as in past years the river DID change big time we never caught one from the boat...well we did beach the boat and used the rod holders at one place and landed one that way..the rest were from shore..

the 55 (double nickels) sounds wonderful..Kalum strain ?? white meat??

Cheers

I love the camo on the kid! Very cool. Nice fish too. I have to assume that the young gentlemen must hunt too. :)

Talking to the local sports store owners at Misty Rivers, they say that its been busy. Nice to see it for the local economy.

Sure was a blast for me and the boy.
He sure does hunt too!! Ask Steven about his eyesight!!!
Sure seemed slower then other years for boats on the river, must be the price of fuel!!!

Bartell, How were you fishing the hot shot? Were you trolling it or fishing it from shore?

todbartell
07-27-2008, 03:59 PM
back trolling in the jet boat, using a 30' Jet Diver and about 5' leader. That diver will hit about 15-18' in the Skeena

Lots of guys back trolling with jet divers! Best I heard of was with the divers and Spin N'Glos, looked to me to be the smaller glos, and lots doing the roe thing also.
Tod you should have come and said HI!! Heck anyone that recognizes me come say hi, might even have a cold brew hiding somewhere!!
