Peter's aunt and uncle with his cousins came for a visit to canada. After many years of telling them about Canim lake and sending them pictures of our trips there with hunting and fishing and just frolicking in what we call our heaven they decided they had to see it first hand. So this past weekend we all went up to the cariboo and Peter's mom and dad and brother and sister and the family from Denmark stayed at Reynold's resort while we drove a few more miles down the FSR to our cabin. We took the jet boat and made frequent rendesvous back and forth taking them all out on the tube and for a tour of canim as well as a big time Alison's dinner. We were nicely surprised that Peter's sister and her hubby were able to take the time and show up late friday night and they stayed at the cabin with us.

We did some fishing with Breanne and Braydon (Azshia had to stay home as she is in the middle of finals with school). This was the first time I actually had more fun watching my kids fish and I never put a rod in the water. Just watching them fish and having a great time and actually helping one another out. I saw all the years we have fostered in them come out as they hooked and netted and laughed and baited and teased each other and caught a nice cache of fish for the freezer as well as the bbq. We shared some of the catch with Peter's family as they had never had trout before and well let's say it was a hit. We also dined saturday night on bbq ribs (6 full lengths of ribs), broiled rack of lamb (5 racks), mediteranean salad, greek pasta salad, pita and tatziki, roasted potatoes, sweet corn and for dessert of course Danish Pastries (sorry the bakery in Cloverdale helped with those). With 18 people and full bellies we sat around the campfire for a bit before having to boat back to the resort as well as some had to drive back (boat only holds so many).

As for wildlife sightings, we saw a beautiful buck hehehehehhe he will be open soon enough :) as well as we saw a nice black bear, and a cinnimon was also seen on route to Mahood falls. A friend of ours who also has a cabin near ours watched a moose swim across the lake to head onto shore right by their cabin (perfect hehehehehe guess who has her moose draw for October:twisted:). Unfortunatley with 5 dogs running around, our resident fox didn't make her appearance. Breanne was walking with our dogs down the beach when she spotted a lone little Marganzer (not sure of sp) and an eagle swooped down after it, the wing of the eagle nearly touched Breanne's cheek (it freaked her out to be that close to such an enormous bird)

as I mentioned we did some fishing with Breanne and Braydon, well Braydon caught a derby size rainbow yesterday - I never saw him so excited and Breanne helped him bring it in. We said Braydon was the "Master Reeler", Breanne was the "Master Netter" and Peter heheheheh the "Master Baiter"

team work in the boat (me I take pictures)

The fish measured 18.5 inches - 10 inches round and 6 inch tail - 2.5 lbs
yummy

and I also mentioned we had 5 dogs with us - Peter's parents have a foofoo pooch (very pampered little multipoo) and his sister has a little foofoo pooch (very spoiled puff of fur) and Peter's brother has a Yellow lab and we had our 2 dogs with us.

Hunter, our Black Lab & Copper, Peter's brother's Yellow Lab (are sisters) and haven't seen each other in over a year.

Ours loves the water and swims non stop - their's hates the water and gets blow dried if she happens to get her feet wet (good grief)

Thanks, it was great, not as relaxing as it usually is as we had some troubles with our boat trailer but we got it fixed up as we would haul the boat out of the lake each night and then launch her again in the morning. We missed one morning of no fishing because the bearings on one of the trailer wheels was toast. Peter drove into 100 Mile twice to get the parts to fix her up and we were back on track fishing and tubing. Having the new top installed on her before we left was nice - hehehehe Peter can actually stand in the boat under the cover now (me, however I can pretty much stand anywhere and not have to be hunched over - sometimes being vertically challenged has its good points)

After our trip up there 3 weeks ago Braydon got over his fear of deep waters and from the slide show opics you can see he quite enjoys tubing with his cousins now. The boys also swam to our little dock and had a competition of how fast they could flip it. 5 boys aged 14-18 (imagine the shenanigans they got into) Breanne was the only girl amongst them and she made sure she didn't take crap from them.

Peter's Mom and dad are motorhome campers and in 15 years have never seen the cabin until this past weekend. I knew when my Mom-in-law came inside the cabin she would have something to say. Her first words were - if I owned this property everything would be bulldozed down and built new - she said I wasn't kidding when I said it was "RUSTIC" heheehe perfect means she won't want to come ther often - it is still my tranquillity and I won't be touching the rustic feel of my cabin - guess I showed her that as rustic as everything is in the cabin I can still turn out a gourmet meal for people to sink their teeth into.

The family visiting from Denmark, we in awe of the beauty surrounding them with the scenery to the rustic feel they experienced with us as they have a getaway house in Norway and they enjoy the peace it brings to them. Seeing ours after so many years of photo sharing, they can't wait to come back and stay with us up there, They liked the cabin they rented at Reynold's but they said the peace and quiet from ours is much more enjoyable as well as being right lakefront to beautiful sunrises and glorious moon lights - they even got to see a hint of the Northern Lights which really was something for them to see.

I even have one of my nephews talked into to taking his core and joining us on a hunting trip. He is stoked to get into it.

I get up there about 6-7 times in the summer and then I do a week up there in the fall.

we usually do Easter up there, then may long weekend, and try 2-3 times in the summer if possible and as much as we can in the fall during hunting season and if we pull an LEH draw like this year will be awesome to combine Thanksgiving and draw date - after November we usually cant get through the FSR as the road in is not a maintained FSR (we need mild snowfall to get through)

I love the four seasons in the cariboo

Nice pics Ali,
Looks like everyone had a good time.

I've just come back to work after having a month off:
-One week prospecting for GOLD up around Watson Lake
-One week at Tuchodi Lakes
-Two weeks out at our Summer Cabin

No days off between trips makes it pretty hectic, it's nice to get back to work and take a little break:shock:. lol

Thanks bunches, I read about your little boat excursion - wicked wicked cool - can't wait for when we finally hook up on each others waters - will be a real blast (Peter had a new top made for our boat so now he can stand up in it - funny I never have a problem standing in tents ot boat tops lol (must be one perk of being vertically challenged lol)
