Halibut Charters?

Hey All - the wife wants to go halibut fishing, so I'm thinking of making a nice weekend out of it maybe for our anniversery.

Can anyone reccomend a reasonable charter outfit on the island?

Depends where you want to go and how big of halibut you want to catch. Seabeam fishing resort in Bamfield, average size halis and good salmon fishing offshore. Port Hardy, big halis, good salmon fishing. Seabeam 250-728-3286

Reasonable.... The definition may scare you. Fuel costs have gone through the roof and its reflected in the going rates.

Found alot on google (too many!) - the average seems to be between $700 - $1100 for 8-10 hours fishing (some it's dock to dock, others don't seem to include time to the fishing area). That's reasonable (ones up in the 2K and down in the $400's scare me :) ).

I'm just trying to narrow down the list of ones to contact for more info. I started going through the list on google, but 15,000 hits...

Got back Sunday from Tofino,fishing with Ospray Charters (250-725-2133).Shawn has a nice B&B as well as 2 offshore capable boats.We brought home 4 halibut (15-30lbs),and 4 springs.Lots to do in Tofino for your wife! Cheers,Gunner

Keep in mind that the hali posession limit is down to two from three, we were surprised to find that tidbit out after we had paid for our day on the water. You spend a grand and come home with a couple of fish each, and if the wind is up you are not making it out to the big bank where the hali live.

Weigh West Marine Resort in Tofino have nice packages. You can get fishing, lodging and food quite reasonable.
