Hi all;

Trying a new area (5-2) this year for mule deer hunting, can anyone help out with info on this area?

Thanks!

Last government harvest data I saw had 5-02 having the highest mule deer harvest numbers in the whole province.I don't think it matters where you go just get out and hike some cut blocks.No deer try another block,they must be spread out all over.RB

There is or was published data you could buy in a magazine form.It might have been produced partially by the BCWF,I can't recall as I have'nt saw one in a couple of years.I am sure somebody will recognize what I am talking about and add more info.RB

Just walk the cutblocks and you will find deer. they are so thick in there its unbelievable. Wait, are we talking deer or deer hunters? both are plentiful.

Seriously though, there are lots of deer and LOTS of road hunters (I know, I was one for a few years down there). But it is a good place.

Meldrum Creek isn't in 5-02 though, its in 5-14.

Have to agree with the comments about the number of hunters. There may be lots of deer, but in any popular, easily acessible areas, you will run into other hunters. Get back off the roads any distance and the numbers drop off quickly.

B. C. Outdoors magazine publishes their "hunting " edition once a year with MOE harvest and effort data in it. Not sure how up to date it is.
