I see they opened a lengthy 3 point or better elk season in the Peace region. As well, they have antlerless seasons for the entire month of November in the same agricultural zone for both species of deer. They kept the 4 point requirement on whitey buck though.

Don't notice any major changes to the moose seasons, even with all the talk of recent winter kill.

Wow, looked like they really opened up the elk, looks like a "discreet cull" of sort , have a draw for the 100 mile area for moose but with all these new openings, sure is tempting....damn I told myself no more northern trips for a while after last year and now they do this...decisions, decisions8)

That zone seems to be predominantly private land . Does anyone know if that is the case? If it is, does anyone know a landowner looking to get rid of a few elk?

I dont understand the $1000000 liability insurance part. Cant you just drive up and knock on a door and ask to hunt Elk on their property??Rob

Some farmers up here open their doors and allow hunting but you will find a good portion will not allow anyone but friends or family on their land. This hunt looks good on paper but you will find it harder than you think.

Also alot of the elk that cause the ranchers problems do not show up until mid winter when it is cold and lots of snow on the ground. During the fall only certain farms have high concentrations of elk on them and it can be hard to get permission. The areas that do give permission get pretty crowded.

As far as does go...if you can not find a buck to shoot then maybe you should be hunting something else. Does are great for the kids but going for just a legal buck is pretty simple.

7B the only area in the province with a 3pt or better season for elk. This is just ******ed. Why do they do this, concentrate the demand into one area instead of spreading it around when it would seem that other areas in the province could handle a 3pt season. This frustrates the hell out of me. Just when I thought this year was going to be alot more liberalized, they do this.

Thats not to say I am agaist this season, its just a shame they couldn't expand it into other regions.

The area they have highlighted on map 27 includes a lot of public forested land so you shoudn't have a hard time finding elk along some of the rivers or crown land that doesn't have farms to close.

If you look at 7-20A in the regs, it shows a good amount of crown land to hunt, just need to know where to look.8-)

I was wondering the same thing with 35 & 36, they seem to have disappeared as far Elk are concerned. I originally thought this was a typo, let us know what the CO tells you?
