Wow, you guys really weren't yankin my chain, you really can call that number and find out.

I called, and found out, and all I can say is - sweet!!!! After (grumble grumble) years of trying, I got my first draw EVER! T'is just a whitetail doe, but the season it runs through makes it an awesome "insurance tag" for a full freezer this winter. It runs Oct 10 to Nov 30 - so I can hunt without the stress of an empty freezer all season, because getting a whitetail doe on the EK in late november ought to take oh, say, 30 minutes. :)

Oh yeah, and The Wife(tm) drew one of the same tag. So in essence, my family just got a license to be a picky about what we shoot this year.

It would have been REALLY nice to get a moose or an elk, but oh well, I'm just happy to have FINALLY got SOMETHING after all these years of putting in!!!!

Well as stated earlier, I was lucky this year with a goat and bull moose shared draw. That said, these were in lower odds area's that require a ton of work for access alone.
For those that have not been so lucky, I feel for you, but..... many of us put in for hunts that are in high demand, high odds, like trying to win the 6/49.
I also have these entries, for Sheep, Elk, and in the past Bison, although the bison are getting better on the odds I was still not successful. If any one knows of a better way, submit it, present it to the ministry. The only thing I really disagree with with the present system is this....
If I draw for example a goat, and the odds were 14 to 1, I should not be able to draw again unless all applicants that try were also successful in the past. In other words, if you've had your chance, then others should also before you get yours again.
The problem with trying to keep track of all hunters success and misfortune would be a paperwork night mare....but as said if you know a better way, fill your boots and get off your sounding box and do something about it.
In all the years there has been LEH, I have NEVER drawn for Sheep, Roosevelt Elk, or Bison, yet others I know have been lucky a few times over. Oh well, thats the system, thats the way it goes. I get a real kick out
of those that just keep complaining but never do any thing to correct the system that they think is flawed.
I just cross my fingers every year and hope for something, thats the way it goes. If you want better chances at being drawn look to the hard work hunts. You'll find you appreciate it more in the long run.

Pulled a bull Moose, also just got a new rifle recently so I couldn't be anymore excited for this season.

For those that drew the coveted grizzly tags for the central coast ..anyone needs any help or suggestions please dont hesitate to ask EARLY as its shaping up for a very very busy year hunting between BC and Alberta..

Also moose and deer hunters new to the Cariboo..Region 5...

This system DOES NEED SOME FIXING..while its great to get numerous draws I am sure some of these tags will go unused while others didnt get anything..Albertas system of priority is looking better every year..

and just how much meat can a familly eat..???one of my buds got 3 moose draws for his familly him and wife and son...:shock: plus an elk draw..

I feel we should ALSO do a 2 draw system first round limit of TWO second time draw remaining tags PLUS any individual who hasnt BOUGHT $$$$ tag for his species in the first round also LOSES that LEH and it is redrawn.....

feast or famine is NOT fair..my partner and I got grizzly, moose , elk, deer at the upper edge of 'doable" ....

I agree. I also wonder how come many folks get multiple draws when others get nothing. I know about the odds variations; I also studied probability and statistics in university (a few years ago!). It doesn't add up.

Another option might be to do elk or moose, but not both.

How about you only get one draw in a year. (And they run the draw with high preference stuff like sheep/moose/goats/etc first, so you wouldn't ruin your chances at the big stuff by putting in for a low odds doe tag somewhere).

Dad and I got doe mule tags for 8-8 ( which is a good thing way to many does out their)

I plan in scooping out the area this summer last fall I found droppings and tracks while looking for deer but when it comes to moose I really don't know what I am doing good time to learn I figure.

A better suggestion is that first time hunters can kill a doe without a draw. GOS! We've got a proposal in that is receiving many levels of ascent on that one.

Back to the topic though, what did you get in the draw. You guys can create a new thread about how unfair LEH is when somebody else gets the draws you wanted! :biggrin:

I am happy to report that I was chosen to harvest a Whitetail Doe in Region 8 as a new hunter in B.C. Good Luck to all those who got the draw and more to those that diddnt.

I too am cursed with the bad luck, I've only been drawn 3 times, and only once (this year) on a draw that didn't have more tags than applications. I've been hunting here for 25 years.

I have used a 30/30, 35 rem.. 348 Win. always seemed to me the bigger the bullet and slower it moves the faster the moose dropped.

Must be me but people sure seem to spreadin evil about us lever-gun boyz,,:shock:
