So ...
Scouting this long weekend in 3-16 (Blowdown, Van Horlick, Boulder, Downtin, Carpenter Lk., etc) I came eye to eye (75 yds) with a young grizz (2 yr. old ?). I had about 30 seconds to scramble for my camera but not fast enough - I didn't want to take my eyes of it as it was truly magnificent! Someone tell me that I wasn't seeing things in this area !?

I've hunted blackbear for 25 years and know them well ... this blonde grizz was something that I wasn't expecting to see in this area!?

Saw 8 blackies, one of which was a beautiful cinnamon and then momma and 2 cubs munching on grass and playing high up in the alpine-fun to watch !

Not a lot of deer sign - although it has been pretty hot.

Anyway ... anyone else see grizz in 3-16 ? Was I smokin crack !??

I've seen the in several of the areas you mention, especially around Carpenter Lake.

Grizz numbers have been increasing in those areas, from what I have sen and heard.

Your one lucky guy to have seen such a sight.
Mother Nature is doing her best to keep us hunters and Outdoors ppl Happy ;)
First one I ever seen ws about 8 miles east of Priceton in 98 crossing Hwy3 at a full gallop right in front of me and my truck, I saw a flash comeing down the hillside and started to slow down and sure enough out it popped on my left then crossed over to the right in about 3 strides.
Enjoy.

The Texas creek he'd be talkin about is between the Stein and Lillooet on the west side of the Fraser. A few years a ago I saw a gbear in the Stein down along the river.
