North American Wildlife Conservation Model.
Hunters have a long history of being the gaurdians of the very Game that they hunt. Some good background here....

Also some good discussion of the Elimination of Markets for Wildlife, anti-poaching.

here here!

Hunting IS a conservation tool that has worked extremely well over the years. This is a time proven fact.

I haven't looked at those yet thanks but I have always realized that hunters are the real consevationists. Because they love the wilds and the animal herds so much they protect the animals they hunt. They study the animal they seek year after year walking in the actual areas they live. Therefore being close and can see the conditions and how things affect those conditions. By trusting and working with bioligists and others with the same conservation concerns. Taking the right amount of animals to keep the proper feed/animal forage ratio levels controlled to create an on going healthy herd that gets stronger rather than weaker. Following regulations and allowable bag limits done properly, makes the hunter the most concerned individual for managed sustainable conservation. Two thumbs up for the real conservationists who understand the cycle of animal life. The concerned, caring hunters. Jel

Doing everything I can to help, even have an apprentice conservationist!!!
Good reads for sure, too bad the ones that need to read those documents won't take off their rosy coloured goggles!

I've heard this Model referred to a few times at stakeholder meetings, but it never seems to get the reading it deserves.

Although there may be a couple of issues that haven't been adjusted to reflect the modern situations, it is for the most part still applicable.
