Very nice pics TY for posting them. I like the bear. Can't wait for my next trip out of the city. I would much rather stop every 5 mins for some photos then every 2 mins in bumper to bumper traffic.

very nice pics, but with that I'd probably taken longer coming back some nice deer up there that bear seems a little under weight, but at least it has a good portion of food to feed on, moosey, moosey,

Anybody driving to FSJ should go through Hudson's Hope! The amount of wildlife can be simply amazing!

Ya I thought that might be a little Griz. Its quite an ugly blackie, if thats what it is. Man, now I know the deer I have seen around here with tiny velvet antlers arnt going to be getting huge. Those guys sure are though!

Would all that good wildlife habitat be flooded if Site "C" dam was constructed?

Would all that good wildlife habitat be flooded if Site "C" dam was constructed?

The Site C Dam is a very controversial subject up here in the Peace country. The environmentalists claim that the damage done would be an ecological disaster. BC Hydro, of course, claims that the damage would be minimal...
But to answer your question, a large amount of good wildlife habitat along the Peace River would indeed be flooded (including my own little elk "honey-hole"). I predict that the game animals will simply move to higher ground, and that the major impact will be on the smaller critters such as voles, squirrels, weasels, salamanders and snakes. The ecology of the river would change to the ecology of a reservoir, and I am not sure what the effects on fish species would be. Unlike Williston Lake, I presume that most of the timber will be harvested before flooding begins.
My own view? I love the Peace River valley and would prefer that it not be flooded. On the other hand, neither would I despair if it did...
