So took out the wife for her first time targeting hali's a couple of weeks ago. With in an hour we had two nice chickens on board (the other was caught buy another first timer). They were around 15 and 22 lbs.

So yesterday we decided to go after springs as a few are being caught in Hardy. Headed out around 10 (after the fisherperson dragged her butt out of bed). I went with a couple of old stand-bys, green Anchovie Special teaser and red hotspot flasher and a white hootchie with a green hot spot.
First fish of the morning was a beauty 18 lbs white spring that hit the anchovie and took off like a train, fought hard and did not want to give up. The wife played it like a pro, considering it was her first salmon and second salt water fish (she grew up fishing walleye and trout). An interesting note was that the fish had been hooked before as ther was a hook lodged in his mouth and approx 18" of line trailed behind her. Not bad for her first chinook and first salmon.

Next came a 10 lbs hali that hit the white hootchie. She let me bring that one in;-):p.
Then another hali hit the same rig, It thumped of the downrigger and took off for the bottom. She grabbed the rod out of my hands and said...My Turn.... with a big smile. This one ended up at 25 lbs, he biggest fish ever and her second hali

All in all it was a great day, three fish in three hours.

Now that she is now hooked....hook line and sinker.....I wonder when I am going to get to play another fish.....:p:eek:
Cheers
