I have some magic beans for sale if your interested??? They can grow diesel vines and you can place pails under the leaves and catch the raw diesel extract..
I'm highly skeptical of additives, just from the basic lay out of the website I think something is fishy, "our magic beans that we add to McDonald veggy oil is the best, don't worry about the small left over French fry bits with the money you save on fuel you can buy a filter every week"
Not only that but I think the province is planning on bringing mandatory licensing for anyone that picking up waist veggy oil if they haven't all ready.

My old man used veg oil, used cooking oil (pre-filtered of course) etc.. in his diesel. Only in the summer months though, and only a small amount. I'm not sure that I would use it in the winter unless you have a heater in the tank.

I've never heard of Desiel Secret -it looks like a version of biodiesel-, but I must say the WVO conversion kit that I use works perfectly. In very cold temperatures there are a few things you can do to make it work better- Easiest is to just warm up your engine longer, and/or mix in 10-20% diesel, but others include insulating your tank, installing an electric pad heater on your tank, using a 12V fuel filter heater and insulating your fuel lines.
Ther eis some extra maintenece and a bit of extra work, but it's well worth it.

It doesn't appear to be too expensive to try one of their starter kits, why not give it a shot?

i've been very skeptical about the veg oil conversions with the fuel lines, heaters, insualtion etc
if something goes wrong it sounds pretty bad like your motor could freeze up solid yada yada
this product sounds like you simply filter some veg oil add their product and presto $ 0.13 per liter. no changes, no risks.
i'm i missing something here?

I belong to a number of diesel sites/forums and most of the guys there say it is snake oil. A few studies have been done on it and they were NOT favorable. I would think twice about putting this into a motor worth thousands of dollars. The new diesels have such close tolerances that it may harm it, not worth the cost saving? Go on to the diesel sites and look up the alternative fuel section it is talked about extensively there.

What do you mean by "your motor could freeze up solid?" You think the engine will seize?

At a minimum of 250$ per injector and how much for the injector pump? Go ahead and see how much you can save with home brewed diesel (WVO) and someones' snake oil additive. It says no mods required try it and let me know; put a few thousand kms. on your diesel. Let me know how that works out for you. I think this may work in the old style diesels but not in the new ones they are really finicky on what you feed them. If it sounds too good to be true then guess what. A quality conversion takes more than just a bottle of secret sauce to make it work. Do some more research there is a wealth of info on the net.
Also you can kiss your warranty goodbye once your dealership smells fried chicken and frenchfries coming from your tailpipe.

I'd suggest not using anything but approved fuels in a vehicle that is still under warranty.8)
Gatehouse what kind of truck are you running?
I have an old pre-powerstroke 94 turbo diesel and am putting a lot of thought into setting up a two tank system on my truck. I only drive the thing when I need to haul something, for hunting and when there is too much snow for my car, which is most of the winter.

Presently I am using a 1995 Dodge wiht a Cummins in it. It's just purring on the veg oil now, although last week it wasn't (turned out I needed a new lift pump)
The other truck I converted was a 1996 Ford Powerstroke. Your truck should already have 2 tanks in it, although you woudl need to remove the box to install a in tank heater unit.
platdrive.ca is th eplace to look.

I run 2 restaurants, so I have more than I can use!
However, most restaurants pay someone to take it away. This is changing somewhat, as there are new companies that are offering 5 cents a litre for it, so they can make it into bio deisel or soap or whatever. But many places will just give it to you.
You need to have a certian grade of oil (we use trans fat free shortening and it seems great) The shortening or oil cannot be one that turns solid at room temperature- It will clog up your lines. There is plenty of info on www.plantdrive.ca (http://www.plantdrive.ca) about this.
The best bet is to go to a few restaurants and ask what they use for fryer oil and can you have it. Frankly, if they are using good quality oil suitable for fuel, and someone is paying them 5 cents per litre, offering 10 cents per litre isn't a bad option. Better than $1.40 per litre, which is what I noticed on the gas station sign the other day, as I drove past without stopping.
I don't pretend to be an "expert" on veggie oil conversions, but I am probably the only person you "know" with one, so here are my thoughts/opinions:
It's easier to convert than you think
Including kit and new tank, you will be into it for about $2500-$3000. It pays off within 6 months or less if you drive more
Good oil shouldn't be difficult to locate if you live somewhere wiht a few restaurants
You can offer to give the restaurant good PR
You start on diesel, warm up, switch to oil and drive. Before gettign to your destination, you switch back to diesel and "purge" out all the oil form fuel filter/injectors etc. This makes it easy to start in the morning. It shoudl also burn out any residue that some say builds up in injectors.
You can still run your truck on diesel at any time.
It takes a bit more work to collect oil/let it settle/pre filter, but it's not a great deal more work. You fill up your fuel tank wiht after tax dollars, so that $100 fill up really costs you $130-$140. What is an hour of free time in the evening after work worth?
THis isn't VOODOO or anything else, diesel engines were originally designed for tractors, runnig on peanut oil that the farmer could press himself. They still work.

Last time I filled up my diesel tank I set the trip odometer.
So far I've driven 4000 kms on half a tank of diesel, or $0.015 per km.:-P

What about the "diesel secret" method, anybody doing this? Any feed back on this system? IE: no mods just filter add the "secret" and go.

I saw this on mythbusters and they took used veggie oil and filtered it and then put in into the tank with no modifications at all and they got just about the same mileage as with a tank of diesel. I say you should try it.

We are not talking about mileage here , but rather if it will not hurt a modern diesel engine as it says in their promo blurb. Filter add the "diesel secret" and away you go. If you have $10,000+ to replace my motor if anything goes wrong I'll give it a try,Kid. Think I should try it now?

Apologies for resurrecting a dead thread but I would urge caution with regard to "diesel secret" I have been a forum member on a VW diesel forum and I have yet to read a good word about diesel secret. It is now a banned subject. Moosecaller is right it's snake oil.

wondering how a well filtered water removed vegi oil would do in the boat. that old detroit might like it .. any thoughts ?
Gatehouse you mention a tank heater ? how hot does the fuel have to be? a detroit uses fuel to cool the injectors ..returns a huge amount and the tank warms up quickly ...
might have to look here in CR for oil .. the tug uses 5 gallons an hr when pullin .. might pay to research this a bit
