Went for a hike in the Nelson area the other day. I was walking up a little side road when I saw a bunch of deer fur on the ground. I then saw drag marks on the road followed by a couple of cougar tracks splayed out in the dirt. I followed the drag marks off the edge of the road into some thick brush, and there laid a dead mule deer buck, which was cached by the cougar. It hadn't been eaten much at all yet. It just so happened that I was given a StealthCam as a tip after bear guiding, so I ran home, got the camera and brought it back up to the kill site. I left it there for 1 night and had 150 cougar pictures. Then I set it on video mode for another night and got 100 videos of the cougar and 2 different black bears, one of which is a pig of a colour phase. Check it out. The video is really cool. Look at the size of the head on the bear in the 3rd and 4th video.

Keep my eyes open now more than usual when I go for walks with the kids...

Pretty much every place we walk the kids and dogs is 5 mins from Nelson up a forestry road... Maybe give the locals a heads up that a cat is around right next to a road...

Awesome pics and video by the way...

Those are some of the best trail cam pics and video I have seen to date. You should send those in to the camera maker and see if you could make some dough off of em.

Thanks, ya it was a slow season up there. Really late spring, a few nice bears were shot though. I actually saw you on one of Shockey's videos one night when i was in base camp. I didn't know you were a celebrity!

I've only got pictures and video of the cat and the black one during daylight. I actually sat at the kill for 4 hours tonight to see if anything would come in, and I believe the cougar tried to sneak in behind me but caught my wind, I just saw it lurking away as I turned my head, it was only about 15 feet tho. Its so thick in there, the farthest I could get from the kill and still be able to see was 30 feet, so it would've been close quarters if something showed up. I'll try one more time tomorrow.

Its a StealthCam, but I don't know which model exactly. I got it for free:smile:, but I believe it retails for about $450. You can find it on their website.

Way too soon. Heading up near the end of June. Are you still in PG right now?
