My buddy picked up a new boat out of the states a week ago, so I took him out to show him a couple holes.
Kind of a piss around (maiden voyage always is) as he only had one downrigger so I brought one of mine. Well it hadnt been used in about 2 years so I guess the braided cable lost its strength and to shorten an already short story, I lost 2 15lb cannon balls, snubbers and riggin' in 2 minutes. My choice words were likely heard from McNeil down to Sidney.
Stripped the cable and put my spare spool of cable on, but nobody had a spare cannonball to sell.?.?.
Always carry spares of everything!
Anyways we made due, stacked 2 on one side and my ol favs were producing like always, first an average 10/11lb that made the boat not 5 seconds too soon as I had a seal bearing down on him, rolled right at the net as we scooped him.
One guy says, "I've been out here all day, what you gettin' them on?" I said, "That informations going to cost you a cannonball!"
Managed to get one more in the couple hours we were out.
Nice day on the water.
