Three times in the last 2 weeks i have had my stalk spoiled by the wind changeing . Today i saw the bear i wanted a big chocolate spent an hour getting to 57 yards needed to get to forty. I was hiding behind a rootball when the wind changed. It sure is hard getting into arrow range when the wind blows back and forth in these valleys. Hunting on the praires must be easyer with the wind blowing steady in one derection.

Dont be discouraged theres alot of people out there that would crap there pants and run away if there was a bear at 57 yards.Be happy for the experience most people will never get to see the things we as hunters see while we are out there except for on tv or in our pictures. With effort/patience sucess will come.Good Luck

So, I can appreciate your are bow hunting(?). Respect what that means... Not to rub it in, but... I went to my sweet spot this spring north of Kamloops. Drove up after a leisurely breakfast, looked at a few roads. Came acorss one road that had beautiful grass growing along the sides and saw bear scat everywhere. Decided to get out and walk the road. 40 mins later, I was 50 paces on a bear. Dropped him with a couple shots - tough bugger! So elapsed time from leaving home to bear hanging in garage... 4 hours.

Really, I feel your pain on that stalk and wind shifts. The wind was swirling for most of the way on the road walk until I turned a corner which gave me just enough of an advantage that I wasn't winded. Otherwise, I may have been pushing bears on that road all day!

Good on ya! Keep up the good hunt.

Would the hide still be good for a rug or mount at this time of the year?

I was out two nights ago with the bow on the motorbike. Started raining HARD! Put on the rain gear and toughed it out. Just as the rain stopped I was going to head home as I had to get up early.....but decided against it. Saw 4 bears in the last 45 minutes of daylight:smile:.
Of course none were shooters and none would have provided me with a shot opportunity but it was nice to know that my decision to stay out was a good one:smile:. Can't shoot them from the couch.

Here too, just got chased in myself.

So much for 7 days with 0% chance of rain!

Glad the hay is half cut.
