View Full Version : best knife I've ever had
Cheep, works good, but ugly. I've had it for over 15 years and has skinned more than 20 moose, 2 passes on both sides with a point file and I'm good to go. File and knife still under $20 at the Northern Hardware in PG.

Niiiiice.
Nothing like a reliable, sharp blade, eh?. Here's one of mine - Its light, holds an edge like you wouldn't believe and sharpens up easily!

Looks like a Frost knife, I use my Frost more than my Puma.

I had a finnish knife i bought in 83 of a finnish soldier while on tour.
10 or so years ago, one of Canada's finest dec. he needed my pack more than i do.
this knife did a deer with one sharpening (gutting, skinning and quatering).
never found such a good knife again.
I use a Victorinox now.

My guess is a Mora knife. Good carbon steel, apparently built in bulk for the fish processing industry. Easy to sharpen. I have one that has become really corroded by apple juice, but still cuts fine.

I'll agree on those Scandahoovien knives. Mora and Frost are quite similar and can't be beat for the money and if you lose it you don't have to cry a lot
either.

Apples? You are a Master Baiter!
I've got a couple of old Mora/Frost knives, and they still see lots of duty. We used to buy them from a Royalite gas station - how friggin' old is THAT?

I have BuckLite folding knife that takes and holds a great edge but my trusty swiss army officers knife I traded a soldier for in Europe has skinned more game in 20+ years than any other knife I own.
My latest is destined to become my new favorite.. it's another Swiss Army knife with a gutting blade that will open a deer or moose so fast it is amazing..
