View Full Version : Help - I'm feeling sheepish. . .

Is there anyone out there who could give a newbie a few ideas on hunting Bighorn this fall?

I've hunted whitetails and blacktails and lots of small game, but deep inside I feel a sheep hunter trying to come out.

I'm coming from Vancouver Island, I've got a week, and I'd prefer to hunt in Region 3.

I'm fit and I spent a good chunk of my 20's climbing technical alpine routes on mountains all over western North America, so I'm comfortable in mountain terrain and I don't mind hiking a long way.

I'd really appreciate any tips on where to hunt or how to narrow it down - you can PM me if you prefer.

As much as I'd love a monster, I'm more interested in the hunt and the mountain time -- just somewhere where I'm in the game, have a chance to learn, and a chance to connect with my ram.

Thanks in advance!

Good luck with that.

Try for an LEH to improve your chances.
Most hunters expect to spend several days just in pre-scouting.
Go to the Wild Sheep Society of BC website for info on legal horn curl. And links to MOE info sheets
