Just received my 6 man Kifaru Tipi tent in the mail and had to set it up and try it out. Combined weight of tent and stove is just over 10lbs. Now I can take the kids hunting in the highcountry and not have to worry about bad weather.

Their website says $900 for tipi and $313 for a medium stove.

Sweet set up Steve!! Me like:cool:!

I just got to ask......is the forest industry picking up?? Didn't you just pick up a New Leupy spotter at the gun show??

Or did you just win the Lotto??

I'm sure you'll put the unit to some good use. I just hope it came with an extinguisher:D.

Its a bit more than the tipi tent, I wonder how the 2 stack up side by side? I almost bought a tipi tent last year, I like the idea for sure

Caveman,
I knew someone was bound to jump on that one.:-P I thought maybe someone would ask if it comes with a backpack friendly fire extinguisher.
It does have spark arresters for the stove.

Sikanni Stalker,
The stove and pipe collapse down and fit in a small carrying case that can easily fit in a backpack.

The tents vary in cost depending on size. The 6 man plus stove ran me about $1300. I have been wanting one of these tents for years. I had a good tax return this year so I figured it should go to something the family can use for a long long time. The Conservatives have given the working family guy some great tax relief this year, and I know I can never count on seeing that again, especially with the Liberals anxious to push another election. I figure one late season Stone trip without the use of a plane with pay for the tent. :)

SSS,
I can tell ya, I got a freakin sweet deal on that Leupy.

Matt,
I'm sure the muley racks are going to be drawn to that tent. Picture setting it up overlookin some beauty basin and glass bucks right from the door as the coffee perks on the stove.

All the better!8)

I just got my tax return today as well. Truck insurance isn't quite as exciting as a new tipi and stove:roll:.

would you pack the stove up to the high country as well:)

dana

That's why I got the stove. I'm tired of getting chased out of the highcounty during the first week of the season because of bad weather.

Very nice set up you have there dana.At tenlb and Kifaru quality it should last a lifetime of trips.
Sikanni stalker.
The sildome is a great looking system.I went with the MSR twin peak for my first super light backpack tent.A bigger tent rated for two guys, plenty of room for solo and gear.
Take a look at the "tarptent" lineup as well the rainbow model has alot of plus points including a floor.RB

I have wanted one for years also but finally bought a 12 man Tipi Tent which is very nice but it looks like the Kifaru would take way less time to set up.

Those Kifarus are pretty cool. I've got a buddy with one and and we used it for a couple of days a few years back. I've always been impressed by the lightweight stove, alothough we barely used it.

PS a ground sheet footprint is a real asset to minimize moisture.

Can't wait to check the tent out myself this coming November!!!

When you're ready for a late season Stone's sheep hunt, you know who to call.

Dana you'll love your new set-up. Last year I was cooking pancakes over the stove in my undies with the snow falling outside!:-) Gotta love it.

Midnightrun,
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out dschultz has used this setup before and is attesting to how well it works.
I want one.

I'm detecting the slight sarcasm in my post was lost on you. And what is it that you want? a pancake or the tent.:)

Looks like they shaped it after one of Madonna's bras from the 80's. LOL.

Cool tent!

Tuffer,
I'm sure that is the exact design look they were going for.

Here are a couple pics of the tent and stove ready to pack. Keep in mind that this is a 6 man tent. While it can fit 6 they say it is really comfy for 4. So 4 people can share the backpackin load.

Dana can you have a open fire in this tent or just in the stove?
Sweet rig thats for sure.

dana

No open fire. Must be in the stove. Don't want to get out the flamazene again. ;)

As for the weight of each piece, it is on Kifaru's website. I don't have a scale to weigh them individually. Just over 10lbs combined weight.
