Given the lower draw weight of the bow, you may want to consider broadheads with cut on contact blades, such as G5 Montecs or the like. This will help alleviate the problems you'll experience with less kinetic energy.

Magnus makes a few good heads (Stinger, Buzzcut) that are two blade cut-on-contact tips. If he's only pulling 40 lbs, 3 blades will rob some of his much-needed kinetic energy. Hard to say what kind of penetration even a good two-blade would have on a bear with only 40 lbs behind it, though, especially if any bone is struck.

Just to clarify ,shooting a bear will only be done on a treed bear. the last thing I need is to deal with a wounded bear. I have to deal with enough healthy bears where I live. thanks for all the info, cut on contact was the way I was thinking . I've got a lot to learn as this the first year hunting with bows for me and my son. there is not one bow hunter in my area. so I appreciate all the info you guys can give.

For a Low Poundage Bow, I would use a 2 Blade, Cut to the tip For Maximum Peneration. !00 Gr
