some areas in region 7 have them and in the regs it is suggested for the general viewing publics pleasure to not shoot them but it does'nt say you cant...........the meat tastes exactly the same as a brown one um or so ive been told

That type of moose could have a varying hair like the big timber hares they turn brown in Spring white in late Fall natures way of camoflaging those particular moose, at least that is what some others tell me. Jeltruth?

My understanding is that the ministry has asked that hunters do not shoot a white moose. However this is a request only and white moose are legal to shoot. I got this info from a CO a couple of years ago. I know that I would have no problem shooting a white moose as moose is moose. I would choose not to shoot it if I had other options at that time..

If I saw a white moose when hunting for moose ,I would not shoot this rear colored animal ,it would be a shame to do so.

Me too...I couldnt do it....theres lots of 'regular' colored ones out there, so I would leave this one alone.

Does this particular white bull moose in the picture have pink eyes what would that suggest to you or are it's eyes a normal color can you tell? Jelpinkeyes?

brown eyes just like a normal one

If it has normal eye color it's not an albino cause albinos have pink eyes right or wrong? Jeleyecolortellsastory

yup true albinos have pink eyes due to a lack of any pigmentation

I would think that any albino animal would have pink eyes.

I have seen lots of apoloosa moose but no pure white ones, I think I would tend to let it go if I had a chance (it would depend of course on what part of the season and how empty the freezer is, but I hope I would be able to let it go).

thats true ... true albinos have pink eyes but it is a common mistake for people to refer to any animal that is white in color, like the moose in the picture, as an albino.

If this moose has browns eyes like you say he does, then how could he be white? I think theres a problem, any bios that could give an unbiased opinion. Or has this moose actually got pink eyes, making it an ALBINO. Jelly

I cant see the picture well enough to tell if it has brown or pink eyes It does look like it has spots on its coat or that could be leaves I cant really tell. From my college biology that i took I recall that there are lots of examples of animals that will have a recessive gene for white coloring (spirit bear for example) If this moose has a complete lack of pigmentation(melanin) right down to its hooves and eyes then it is an albino..... I new a kid who had albinism when I was growing up and he sure didnt have much fun when it came to going outside he had to wear sunglasses even on cloudy days and had a really hard time not getting a sunburn so he was covered up all the time..
