Went out the other day, at dark, something massive nails me, set the hook, fight for about 5 minutes, get him up to the ice (head wouldnt fit through the hole), reached down, grabbed him, and pulled him through. Not a bad burby for my second time outhttp://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc36/browningmirage/IMGP3116.jpg

weighed 14 lbs, a beautiful fish

However,
Alaska record
The state record burbot was caught by George R. Howard in 1976. He pulled a burbot weighing 24 pounds 12 ounces from Lake Louise, near Glennallen in Southcentral Alaska.

Beautiful, nice job!
When are we going to cook him up? I will bring the beer.
What were you using?
That will be one you'll remember for a long time, good photo, better get an enlargement for the mantle.

lol, good question. Im in PG right now, and the family is on the Island. Im gonna try and get it to the island so that my family can see that it is indeed better than halibut. If it doesnt make it all the way to them (im stopping in Comox for 2 days), ill just eat it there. Buzz bomb was the ticket, but i think it was more that we were on the right spot for once. The fact that his stomach was completely empty was interesting for a fish this size

NICE FISH!

haven't gone for them in years, since I was a kid.
I remember having to skin them and that they make excellent fish-n-chips.

i just fillet and skin them like lingcod. It works and to be honest, i couldnt be bothered to nail em to a tree, it just takes too much effort.
