I am looking for Sharp-Tailed Grouse leks this spring in the Prince George Area (for work not for hunting !). I am interested if any hunters out there could tell me areas that they see them.
Thanks

I've seen lots in the Quesnel area but nothing so far in PG.
Two years ago that was almost all we saw on the side roads down Pelican Main. Didn't go up that way this last season, so not sure if it'd be the same.
Used to see lots of them in the clearcuts down Clearlake area.

As almost everyone else said, I have only seen them down the Pelican, 1400, and the Blackwater. 7-10, 7-11, and 5-13. I usually see them in large covey's out in the big cuts.

There's a cutblock in 7-12 where I see flocks of up to 20 without fail every time I go through it.

15 kilometer's down the Tako road on the left. It's the biggest cut on the Tako. You can't miss it. They hang out about 2 K's down the side-road. Usually on the west facing slopes.
Try the Blue Rd south of Vanderhoof....tons!!

2nd on 7-10 around Taco Rd, off the Blackwater, probably the majority of the birds you'll see in a twenty mile radius will be sharpies....and they are not open there...

Thats great! I look forward to seeing the credits in the final report to the good hunters of huntingbc helping you out with areas. You know how it works ;)

Check out the British Columbia Magazine out right now. It has an artilcle on the sharp tail leks and a map where sharptail can be found.
