Just scanned a couple pics of a ram we got a few summers ago. Thought you sheep guys might like to take a look... Sheep season isn't too far away now

The story is too long Bruin haha. It took us forever to get that ram. He was a smart bugger. Are you going up there this year for sure?? If so, get Tavis to tell you the story of the "Professor". It's quite a story

Nope, thats a 30-30. One of the guys I was working with packs that thing as his bear defense gun
And no, the sheep wasn't shot with that. Client hit it at 360 yards right through the throat with a .270 wsm. Very lucky shot

I don't see a scope on that 45/70 as well ??? ,very nice ram as for being a very low number of Dall sheep hear in BC. That one is a hell of a nice Ram.

That's the plan, Have you decided what you're doing this year?? I'll ask for sure, was it a hunt you were on?

The ram was taken in the Northwest Territories with Arctic Red River Outfitters.

Here's a brochure of their rams on their website. Lots of rams and lots of good ones to.

I'm going to be working for Stan Simpson this year (Ramhead Outfitters). But ya that was the first hunt of the season in 2006. Tavis, another guide named Jeremy (who should be working there again this year) and I were on that hunt.

On the picture below, up around the corner where I circled is where that ram died . Talk about a scary retrieval. We shot down on him from the top of the mountain, but couldn't get down to him. So we had to head back and walk all the way around the mountain and back up the other side. The ram died right on the edge of a cliff that dropped into a huge hole underneath the snowpack, had he rolled off the edge he would've been lost forever.

No clue. Sounds like I'll be doing a couple hunts along with another guide, and then i'll get cut loose on my own. Don't know many details though. Have you worked there before?

Great scenery pictures, some rugged mountains but the valleys look like good travelling country. Did you get in on some of the moose and bou hunts or strictly sheep? Did you have any trouble with bears up there, Kelly was saying they're pretty thick?
I met a couple of Stan's guides this year, actually going to school with them, sounds like they do alot of work with horses too.
How did you like sheep hunting with pack dogs?

That ram practically ran through our camp early one morning along the valley bottom in a desperate attempt to get to that ugly terrain that you saw the pictures of. He wanted to get there because he figured he'd be safe i guess... but that wasn't quite the case

We were hunting caribou along with the sheep, but I left before any of the moose backpack hunts started (thank god). Ya theres lots of bears, but i'm sure your use to that by now;). There were never too many problems, except for a couple late night visits and stolen caribou meat. And one story that involves a charging bear and a guide down with a broken leg... You'll have to ask Jeremy about that one when you get up there.
Pack dog was great! He could pack 50 pounds. Tough dog.

I've had a couple of run-ins and some tense moments but not the density you guys would have had, should make things interesting:eek:! Can't wait to get up there! I passed your pictures on to one of my hunters for this year (hope you don't mind), should get him fired up a little, I definitely am.

How come you guys call it Keele camp? Ive ridden horses all the way around keele peak and then crossed the rogue river. Definetely some nice country up there!

Im guessing it was called the keele camp for its on the keele river I think the one that runs into it across from camp is the twitcha I would have to try and find old maps to get the names right. Yes it was very nice country and held some very impressive animals and by the looks of stans web site still does.
