We are pretty luck here in the LML with all the salmon runs, sturgeon fishing etc., etc. that we have access to... in fact, we have a very short window of time that there is slow fishing (unless you fight the crowds for the steelhead!)

Biggest salmon (to date) for me was actually hooked on thr Fraser by my son! I was talking to a fellow angler on the rivers edge when my son, probably about 10 at the time, interrupts me and hands me the rod saying he can't seem to handle this fish!!!

We were running 20 pound test and we basically cleared the river bank of anglers as this fish took me up and down river..... felt strange as everyone stopped fishing to watch the show!!! After about an hours fight we get him to shore, revived him and let him go.... he was a dark white spring that easily broke the scales over 50 pounds!!!

Every year we hear or see 50, 60 or even higher white springs in the Fraser.... unbelievable fighting fish!!!

What is your personal best so far and where were you fishing?

Thought I'd post some salmon pics from many years ago, from the Dean River. When I told Tinney some stories of hooking into big springs on the Dean and getting spooled and what not, he said there are no big springs in the Dean River!
Granted these aren't huge, there are bigger ones in there, I think most educated fisherman know that :D.

Couple of mine from the ocean...where it is harder to catch big springs...because they arent all in a teeny little area, all waiting to move on up...meaning that ocean fishing requires much more skill...meaning i am better at fishing. First two were 27 and 28, third was 33

Don't know how big the guys are, do know that they don't know how to use a net properly, I would guess it looks like about 54 lbs.

55 pounds from Kitimat River is my largest spring. Many in the 20-35 lb range while using a float, gooey bob and pink yarn upstream from the gong show typically found at the townsite.

Well I got a one that got away story.
Years ago when I was fishin the Kispiox I was using light tackle up at Aguadiin (sp?) a ways above the village. Using a 7 1/2 ft spinning rod I built with Cardinal 7 reel and 15 lb test with a bigass Kitimat spoon for lure.
I hooked a real big daddy.. looked like a freakin ironing board..that big!
I fought him for 1 hr and 45 mins till I was totally exausted from pumping him in towards the bank only to have him turn against the current and loose all the line I gained on him. Finally he was coming in close enuf and my brother had this little short gaff he was gonna get him with, right as he reaches out to his limit to gaff him the hook just pulled out of its jaw.
Aw man I just sat down and and felt sick, arms shaking from the strain and watched that hulker swim away. I will never know truly how big he was but both my bro and I have caught numerous slabs in the sound and all around the Island and NOTHING we ever seen came close to that Daddy!
I'm thinking 55+ at least.
Nowadays I would have a camera with me but not then.
We did land a couple 25-30 lbs that day and a chrome 48lb by my Nephew that trip was the largest.
