Dana

What type of camera/lense did you use for the photos of the owl. It looks like you were sharing the tree with him! I have an Olympus Stylus with only 3X zoom and it is tough to get good wildlife pictures. I am thinking of getting a digital with a 35mm style body and for the lense choices that are available.

Any advice?

Blktail,
I'm shooting an Olympus SP550UZ. It is a reasonably priced Point and Shoot. The 18x optical zoom makes it really nice as a wildlife camera.

Maybe we need a sticky post on what camera dana is using

Can I critique? You're slightly out of focus, did you use a tripod? Should have. Don't let that zoom go to your head, you're much better off taking a large picture from a wider angle and cropping it. You'll lose less quality. That, and you're slightly overexposed. Darken em up a bit, but thats more of a personal preference of mine.

Keep clickin Steve that camera is workin for ya

Tinney,
Do you pack your camera around on a tripod all the time just for those 'what if' moments? I have never claimed to be a photographer. I know my stuff is $hit compared to the pros. I am just an average joe using an average camera and I take average photos. I am not looking for critique as I don't care what you might think. If you like them, great. If you don't, fine.

Here is a barred owl I caught catching some rays last summer.
http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x82/Blktail/Owl1.jpg?t=1205291407

I got this with an Olympus Stylus 410 4 megapixel camerea with 3 x's optical zoom. I parked the truck across the lane and stood on the roof to get the shot. An 18 x's zoom would be awesome. Maybe I'll get one for the wife for Mother's Day!

PS - Can anybody tell me why the picture comes up as a link instead of a photo?

Use the IMG code on your photobucket page. It is listed right below the "http" codes.
