Anyone fish the local LML waters for Hailut.... heard that they are making a recovery (sort of).....

what are your views on this?

Not worth the effort IMO. I have known of a couple caught each year for the past couple of years. Compare these catches to the number of anglers plying our local waters and the the results are miniscule, at best.

For what it would cost in fuel trying to catch one here, a run to Victoria doesn't look all that bad. I've done this twice, going in 'blind' and have been lucky enough to catch 3 fish.

anybody been fishing Halibut out of Sooke harbour yet?[a few come in off the bluffs,but mostly people seem to run to Jordan river and up Lost Creek way.]I think the tides are supposed to be good right now

Hey Leaseman. I know so many folks that don't fish Halibut because they think there not there. The point of fishing and boating is exploring new area's and trying it out. The whole East side of the island is loaded with Halibut you just have to find them.....:wink:.
