Hello,
I'm new to the site and was wondering if anyone could help me out. I'm looking at booking a goat hunt with "One Eye Outfit" and I'm wondering if any of you have used them before? Any other recommendations would also be appreciated. Thanks.

I never heard of that one, Bollen and Lewis have a great rep for goat hunting.
just do some due dilligence when deciding what outfitter to hire, here is an article about finding a good outfitter:

Also check out www.huntinfo.com (http://www.huntinfo.com) and go to the outfitter reviews. Also contact the GOABC at www.GOABC.org (http://www.GOABC.org) and ask them for any info, reports, complaints about the outfit

For a goat there is better places that the Chilcotin. Not to say there is no goats there, just that there is better "Goat" country. Shop around and just remember, you get what you pay for. The cheapest is not always the best.

As far as I know Mike M. has the territory again. You would be hunting the mountain range between Charlotte Lake and the Kliniklini River. They don't take many goat hunters each year. There aren't a lot of goats in the area, but they do take some nice ones.

Not a lot of resident hunters either, as it is LEH and poor-very poor access.

Can't go wrong with Bolen and Lewis. If you want a once in a lifetime goat and the best chance at a book animal then you need to look to the Northwest. Spike Lewis knows his goats and will put in 110% effort to ensure you have the best opportunity at a good billy. If your serious about a goat hunt and have the money then give Spike a call. You can pm me for more info on the area and for examples of the specimens available here.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions and advice! It gives me a lot more to consider as I've never hunted with a guide before...thanks again.

I would suggest that you focus on the Northwest when it comes to goat hunts as well (Although Bella Coola has produced some monsters as well!!!) Bolen & Lewis seem to be very successful when it comes to putting clients on to good billies. I know that Coast Mountain Outfitters has a lot of land, and some impressive goats to show for themselves as well. But I would definitely try to go where the big goats are being taken!

. But I would definitely try to go where the big goats are being taken!Good luck with that, body size doesn't vary much throughout the province.

Thanks boxhitch :). I'm talking about horn, which does vary throughout the province.

I'm looking at going with One Eye in the future too. I've spoken with Mike a few times and from the research that I've done it all looks good. His web site is http://www.oneeyeoutfit.com/ and the country is very nice, as is all of BC when you get away from the citys.

do you go with a guide because he is "nice" or because the game you seek is abundant and of the quality and size you are after...

If I was looking at being guided I would want the full package and do lots of homework regarding - quality and quantity of game, experience, "attitude" of the guide, motivation, location, etc. Having a guide that's hard to be with wouldn't be too appealing even if the animals were of high quality. The opposite would also be true. Cost would also be a factor as the guided hunts in this area (Terrace) are in some cases double the cost of other areas - but your chances of seeing an abundance of goats with big horn is also higher. Horses are not used and the terrain is not considered "gentle or rolling". If you desire the horseback experience then you will hunt more interior and perhaps be chasing smaller horn! It's about finding a guide that suites the style and experience that you are looking for. Some guides and hunting styles are more relaxed while others are geared towards the "young guns"! Hmmm... may have to start a thread/poll on this!
