Took this video May 1st last year. How big is this bear nose to tail? Weight? Score? Shooter by your standards? He looked pretty good to me, but I passed. Distance to bear about 60m.

He looks like a good one, big, bulky, notice the ears are barely visible.....sign of a bigger black some say. Hard to estimate length, head measure on this short a film. Nice coat by the look of it. Others can judge far better than me.
What say you all?

5'7" Cool. Close to my uneducated guess of 5'8"

hmm not the easiest to judge from this short video..not a 6' bear..the hind end goes straight up along the back leg = not a particularily heavy bear .. the chest goes UP into the front armpit area ... a younger not extremely big or heavy bear..the neck area did not give indication that it looked thicker or 'heavier" in relation to the skull..the ears seemed to stick up not hidden (sideways ) by the skull..the walk was "fluid" and easy..not pondering and rocking of a heavier bear...

No not a shooter for a rug...not that 6 foot min.... meat bear..yes..nice coat..weight..185 pounds..I dont think this is a 200 # bear...
The front legs seem to taper not be one size all the way down..as doeas MASSIVE blacks...

my.02....

Tough to tell, don't see the big boar swagger on him but he is fairly bulkey. I would say near 6' but I think you made the right choice, he's not the 7'er we're all looking for.

Hack I wasn't looking for seven, I wasn't even hardly looking  Bear hunting is more time killing for me. But this spring might be different as I got a buddy new to the game who wants to try em out. I ballparked this bear at around 5'8'' and a soild first bear for anyone. So if this is indeed a 'decent' bear, I know what to look for this spring.

Tinney yes this is a "decent " bear..coat was nice...and truth be known there are probably more black bears shot that are honestly under 6 feet that over..and it did have a nice coat..as far as weight goes everyone overestimates bears ..and there are a LOT more BB that are under 200 pounds than are over in the spring..If thsi was the situation this year and your buddy wanted him let him..

For a "central BC bear" avarage, for a "Southern BC bear" great!!

He is very wide and deep ,I'm guessing around the 6 foot range.

Not a bad bear it needs a bout 3 years more to become a pig . It would be a good bow bear . It was a good move to pass on the shot .

If possible that would've been my first attempt at a "bow bear"....

Agree with the masses, not a big bear but a great size for good meat. Nice hide from what it showed and don't forget that a trophy is all in the eyes of the beholder, not in someone else's mind.
