Well after about 12 years of trying I finally got a Grizz LEH!! Funny thing is I screwed up and sent my LEH for spring bear in with my "other 5" leh's...so I thought they would toss it in the garbage...since I sent it in way too early....and whataya know...I get drawn!! LMAO....what a great suprise in the mail on Monday!! 4 32...here I come....MELT SNOW MELT!!!!!!!! Any other hardcore Bear hunters out there have a suggestion for a great bear load and calibre!! I will be bow hunting a little as well with my defender on my back and and a "buddy" at my side for back up!! Currently have a 270 and father in laws 7mm Rem. Mag!!(On loan) lol going to cost me for sure....wifes uppin life insurance.....she's so pumped that I'll be hunting alot this spring...lmao!!

Congratulations!! That's very exciting....lots of bears in 4-32. I took my grizzly last spring with a 325wsm shooting 200 grain Accubonds. As expected, it did a great job. For grizzly I would feel comfortable with a 30-06 and up. The 338 Federal would also be an acceptable minimum. Honestly, with the assortment of great penetrating bullets, such as Accubond, Barnes, etc, you have a lot of cartridge options.
Anyway....sounds like a great excuse to buy a new rifle...

Congrats on the draw...my brother got one as well for this year, so I will be going with him...

Personally, I would feel comfortable with a 7mm Rem Mag shooting 160g Vital Shok or Partitions....my bro is going to be borrowing either my 300wsm or my 338 Win Mag firing 250g Partitions...either one will drop a grizz with proper placement.

Good Luck.

You will be fine with the 7mm Rem mag. Make sure your shooting a good bullet out of it 160 gr (Nosler Partition..etc) prolly the best way if its lead core, 150 gr if its a Barnes will work great.
Sight in for 200 yds and know your ballistics (hi-lo) out to 300 yds. Make sure you get some practice in before you go plenty of .22 and lots of centerfire.
Best of luck and take lots of pics!

Hmmm 7mm will absolutley work..may need a second shot ..but Ive witenssed some tremendous bear get tipped over by the 7mm some great advice above..premium bullets shoulder shots..and keep shooting and keep those shots UNDER 150 yards to absolutley ensure shoulder hit..

And oh ya PICTURE..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL

Congrats!!

Same story here...maybe longer than 12 years but I nailed it as well as my buddy. I've never been able to crack the 1.8-1 odds but finally my odds went down to 1.3 and waddya know....:p

TSX is your friend and a 7 ain't a bad choice either. Get in range and bust bone.

See ya out there, my old man pulled a 4:32 and wants some back up for his old 308. I figure the the 210 TSX, ala 338 RUM, is as good a second fiddle as any........grins.

I got my grizz draw too, and will be bringing a backup rifle chambered in 280 Remington. Most likely loaded with 150 grain Barnes Triple Shocks at around 2900 f/s. A 7mm RM loaded with 160 tsx @ 2950 or so will work, but I would listen to Srupp and keep shots inside 150 yards to help with shot placement

Steve an Tod are absolutely right..I should have added that as well... get as close as you can stalk... preferably 75 to 150 yds, place your shots well and keep shooting if its moving.
A rest is the way to go... over a log etc., if you can, go prone when no rest is available.
