I have never hunted Black Bear yet but would like to this year, I live in Armstrong and would like to do some local hunts, will be huntin with a bow most of the time, any suggestions on where to go and what to do/use will be greatly appreciated. thanks

cruise the logging roads, look for piles of shit, or tracks if its muddy. roadsides green up quick in the spring and the bears will be drawn to them to feed. You can cover alot of ground, and in open areas, stop and glass, you can spot them and work in downwind and stalk close.

waserwolf ... close to you ? I would think up Hunters range .. there is a ton of roads up there to look for sign ( like Tod says) it is lousy with bear up there in the fall in the berry patches .

the powerlines in your area green up first. i had luck on mnt. idea, kelly mnt. look for the clover patches

The east side of Mabel (west facing) holds a pile of bears in the spring. Lots of colour phase too.

There thick as flies . If you try hunters range beware of grizz ! last year i saw more colored bears then i did blacks. In armstrong they shoot bows on monday evenings at 7 pm in one of the fall fair barns. One beside the old arena.

Can't wait till Apr.1 Boys and Girls better start shining up those barrels and picking the cobwebs out of our ears. I just wanna see these bad boys go back to sleep as soon as they crawl out of their holes. Good kuck to all the bear hunters and the countdown is on.:cool::cool::cool:
