Last nite took a drive a few klms from my house, thought I'd check out the lunar eclipse, it was clear sky and totally calm, a hill near bye was to be my lookout for the lunar show, while iI was sitting in my truck I decided to take my bnocs and chech out a large meadow below me, about 1 klm downhill, I could make out forms with the naked eye,it was nearly like daylite by the full moon on the snow covered meadows and fields, so I start counting , one meadow about 80 elk are feeding several bulls still packing antlers, large enuf to see thru bnocs by moonlite, mixed in with the heard of elk there is 5 moose, no antlers, and about 25,28 deer, some also with antlers, what a sight in the moonlite, I watch the eclipse for about an hour and a half while keeping an eye on the wildlife, Idecide to move on to another hill about 3 klms away, park pic up by bnocs and start counting ,this meadow , probably 200 acres has another 31 elk , several bulls included, but this field is crawling with deer, counted over 60 deer some bucks, a mixture of whities and muleys, this meadow also included another 6 moose, 3 cows, 3 calves, and couple of yoties, watched this show for about an hour, finally started my pic up and drove home, I am so fortunate to live in a part of the province that has so much wildlife, it was like looking at film from africa, all those animals feeding so peacefully, in the bright moon lit feilds, million dollar veiw in my opinion, good nite guys

Good thing they are on 6 point. It's obvious there just aren't enough elk up there to open any other opportunities for other hunters.

Well maybe someone should write, email or phone the Alberta government because a huge number of elk in the area near where I live are only in Bc during the late winter, my home is just I klm from BC, Alberta border, and if you check the Alberta Hunting Regs, the Alta managment zones near the BC Peace River district have liberal elk hunting opporunities ,the Alta GOS rifle hunt for elk is 3 point bulls or better all season for 2 months , if you bow hunt, its any elk ,either sex all season, now this is for the earea ajacent to DC BC, seems whenever anyone metions the word elk,the topic of antler restrictions raises its ugly 6 pointed head!
