Took us the whole night to get it back to camp.

http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/showphoto.php?photo=8241&cat=500&ppuser=5594 My son came up for a week to help me with my LEH moose draw, one week of hunting and we never seen a fresh track! The day after he left for the coast this guy was standing in a landing, shooting him was easy, the next 7 hours alone were a real bitch! A chainsaw and a quad with a small trailer helped quite a bit. The biggest moose i,ve ever taken was 46 1/2, not as good eating as this one!!!

No, they were freakishly long, don't recall how many inches. He was an old warrior, had alot of ribs that were broken and healed up. Like you say, didn't have to get to close to gore another bull, had quite the harem with him at the time.

This is one of my personal favorite animals..as it required a lot of patience and effort and a very sneaky game plan to fool this big old boy .
This moose was from the TESLIN river and is by FAR the largest bodied moose I have ever seen weighing in at close to 1600 pounds...2 shots from the ol .270 and it was over..the raios worked perfectly and soon Tim and vic showed up to help..The rack was high 58ish wide..

next day we came back to the moose and dthere was the MOST FANTASTIC grizzly bear standing on top of the remains challenging us to come close..big double dare time...fantastic big silvertip..most of our moose go high 50's still no 60" plus for the wall..maybe this sept fly in..??

No such thing as a small moose, but here's my largest. 8X8 from Atlin in 2001, around Aug 28th. By myself on this trip. It took 6 hours to dress and get him back to camp. One of two bulls I saw together that day, both about the same size. Only this one still in velvet. Have always wanted to make a return trip up there.

Here are my largest in weight and antler size. Both good eating but not as tender as the young bulls I like to target.

This one is the largest antlers, he thought he was going to get a piece of action when I called him. I was unaware at the time but there was a another hunter who had a cow draw that was glassing trying to find the cow that was calling (me) as I was hidden in some scrb brush. He could see the bull but had no LEH. I scared the $hit out of him when I shot the bull, he was sure I was a cow and his tag was about to be filled. Nice fella, helped me get him flipped over to field dress.

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj230/tomahawktom/Mooselargestantlers.jpg

Heaviest at 695 lbs dressed out at the butchers, shot in the Clisbako. Just was in the right spot at the right time, I heard a grunt squatted down and he walked 23 ft from me and dropped like a ton of bricks.

Here is my wife's 2006 Region 3 53" moose. Came in at 637 on the hook. Real good eating. The other odd picture is not our biggest, but certainly our luckiest. Oct of '04 and we hit a double immature together. There is the one I'm with, and you can see the antler of the other one in the foreground. Should have bought a lottery ticket that day. There couldn't have been an easy way to get that critter out of a landscape like that! Cool pic, and cool looking area Frenchbar!

Here's a pic of my last moose, Oct 2005. It was a solo job. Lots of fun quartering a moose in knee deep water. ;)

Tinney,
I'd dump a moose in that spot again in a heartbeat. You take Immatures where and when you can get them. It was pouring rain anyway, so I was going to be wet regardless. Did the gutless method and packed one quarter at a time the 200 metres of so back to the truck. Wasn't much more than 2 1/2 hours and I was done. If I had of had help I could have had it done in well under half that time.

We dumped a cow in 2ft of water 8km up the lake and 3km down the creek once with 5 guys. 5 guys and a whole cow isn't the best load for a 16 foot silverstar  Had to fart left to keep from capsizing  I'll never shoot another moose near water

I need to try and dig out some pics of my last moose '01 shot the ******* and he ran across a small river and up into some willows. About 6" of snow fell while gutting and quartering him :( Lots of work and it took me a hell of a long time to eat him all up (single then) so I decided not to go through all that work until I have some mouths at home to help out :)

First is from 2001. Taken at 50 feet with 1 shot from 270 winchester in 140 grain Hornady BTSP. Went 4 steps. Largest bodied moose I've ever shot. Just over 940 lbs, hanging at the butchers.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f35/imvader2/DSC00246.jpg

This one was shot at 70 yards in 2003 with the same load. Came 3/4 of a mile upriver and swam across into old landing. First shot was straight on that passed through the chest and out the left flank. Second dropped him when he spun broadside. 690 lbs on the hook.

My biggest to date - 52" and 810lbs at butcher's hook. It was taken in 2006 and was very good eating.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b115/Ohotnik/IMGP1392-1.jpg

These two boys we enjoyed watching for at least 20 min. at 30 yards, but it was on 14th of August - 20 hours before GOS starts....
