Just wondering if anyone has noticed, any difference in shooting fixed or replaceable blade broadheads also going from a 3 blade to a 4 blade. I only shoot Muzzy MX3 100gr( for 2 years of Archery), But thinking of going with a Muzzy 4 blade (fixed). In a 100gr.

Thanks,
Chad

Most fixed blade heads nowadays have a low profie so the issue of "wind planning" is no longer a problem. Fixed heads like the Montec, the HellRazor, and the Razorcap all are easily resharpenable, have low profiles, have not got solid blades (no wind problems), and from all reports they leave very good blood trails.

The above mentioned heads are also "cut-on-contact" heads - which, IMHO, is the only way to go.

I really like the open blade design of these type of broadheads.

Thanks Bow Walker. Gonna have to make a trip to Cranbrook and buy a few different brands.

I think finding what shoots best for you is the biggest concern. I've shot the three and four blade muzzy and could not tell any difference in lethality. I've found some of the replaceables to be not as tough (aside from muzzy). I like Montecs, and they've tuned well for me, but they are a little pricey.

Springpin, I'm curious why you are thinking of switching, in my IMHO your using a very depenable muzzy now.

i don`t think for all around performance and cost you can beat a 3 blade muzzy .

Okay so what's the diff between the "Old" 3 -blade Muzzy and the MX-3......besides the width ?

I've got some of the "Regular" 3 bladers...shooting very well.
I actually just cruised Muzzy's site......seems the MX-3 is a "stronger" version of the "original" thicker blades etc.

I'm most likely gonna stick with the Muzzy 3-blades for my Spring season....I had big hopes for the Phantoms but they are not grouping nearly as well as the 3-bladers do ? Probably a moot point at 20 meters but it's a confidence thing for me........

If I'm not mistaken it is the length, MX's are shorter helping to reduce wind plane. I also use the older muzzys model#235. They have been excellent, and cost much less.

Like the others have said, muzzy makes a great head, and if it's working well why change it. I've jumped in and out of too many configurations to count, and have taken 81 big game animals with a bow- when I have a big hunt planned I always revert back to a three blade muzzy. I have fun playing with other heads on small hunts like does and antelope, but muzzy is the most reliable head I've shot. Not the easiest tuning or the very best in flight, but it is always the same.

I'm an old school guy and use Thunderheads, are the muzzy's about the same thickness? I have had great success with TH's but honestly never tried anything else as they always did the job, easy to make sharp(replace) and are tough even through bone. My only complaint on the TH's is that I had some flight problems so tuning was tough.

Thanks everyone.

I really like the Mx3, Just wanted to test the water a little bit, and try a new broadhead. So I figured I would put it out to people who have more knowledge, and get some opinions.

Thanks,
