Hey Guys,
Just wanted to give you a report....I ordered a CB/MR NICE frame and Cerberus pack. Mystery Ranch has teamed up with Camelbak and is producing their packs overseas to lower some costs and keep up with orders. These CB/MR packs are slightly less expensive than the original MR packs, but speaking with the guys in Bozeman, they are practically the same pack except for the buckles are made differently.
Got it today and all I can say is WOW. I am impressed. I had a Kifaru Longhunter Guide model that just didnt fit me right. I ordered this pack and it is easily the most comfortable and tough feeling pack I have ever handled. Its roomy (5400 cubic inches) and the frame is super sturdy for packing loads. The bag has nice top pockets as well as 2 long front pockets. I loaded it up with a TON of weight and it handles very nicely.
I'll add a Gunbearer on the hip belt and it should be good to go.....down the road I might buy a Crewcab as a day-pack option. Definatly a hell of a nice rig for anyone who is looking at investing a bit of money into a pack.

Rackmastr,
Thanks for sharing. That is a great looking pack. I am in the market for something about that size. Can you say what that package is worth, and where you ordered it from (MR directly?)?
Cheers,
4Ster

I managed to find someone who had one for sale brand-new with tags, so I bought it from him.

If you buy it direct from them, its a $479 pack and they quoted me $50 shipping to Canada....

The Camelbak is made overseas so count on duty at the border as well as the GST....

Awesome pack....cant say how impressed I am....truly amazing quality all around, and wicked comfort.....(thats right...wicked)

Not that I've ever heard of......but a quick call to the boys at Bozeman would be easy to find out I'm sure.....

I know Kutenay runs 4 Mystery Ranch packs....he might know if they're available anywhere in Canada...

Looks as though it has some mass, by itself. What is the MT weight ?
Rugged stuff.

Definatly not a 'lightweight' pack....I think its somewhere between 8 and 9 lbs......

Very good choice Rackmaster. I worked with several guys this year that run these packs and they absolutely love them and wouldn't use anyting else. I am buying a MR pack next week as well but I decided to go with the Nice frame and Nice 6500 bag.

Weight-9lbs 9oz
Price $650 + shipping
I chose this pack for its durability under heavy loads and large capacity (106 L). I agree its a heavy pack, but that's a price I am willing to pay.

I have five MR packs plus a 30+ yr. old pack from Dana Gleason, probably his first Canadian sale and I had another from 1993 until it was stolen in 1999. I have had MANY packs over the years and sold them for a living, I have Kifarus, and a Bullpac and on and on.

Mystery Ranch are the BEST production packs I know of and I have been telling people about them on the 'net for about 3 years. Even at 61, I can and do carry a weighed 100 lbs. in mine and no other pack will allow me to do that for training purposes.

I have also advised using the Gunbearer bottom and the Gun Corral top on these for quite some time, make SURE that you wrap the GB lower attachment AROUND your MR waistbelt, NOT through the molle loops on the belt.

I buy the Bozeman made versions and they are, with Integral Designs and Hilleberg tents, my favourite gear makers as the stuff WORKS. MR also has the BEST cutomer service I have ever seen, they are a pleasure to deal with.
