I was looking @ Swarovoski spotting scopes..in CASE I dont get my NEW Leupold back......any one have a SWAROVOSKI...65hd or 80 hd??

Anyone used a spotting scope with the "angeled" lens..what are your views on this set up...

is there any significant difference between the 65hd and 80 hd..

Thank you for your advice..

I have the ATS 65HD,I like the angled eye piece..some dont.In my opinion the 80 is over kill and way to heavy for backpack sheep hunting.

The 80mm will gather more light i believe. Straight is way easier for finding the animal when first spotted through binos as it is more natural to point something directly at the animal.

Its true, straight eyepieces are easier to pick up the target. However, I find the angled eyepiece much more comfortable to look through for long periods. Like so many things, it's personal preference and compromise.

I've got the 65HD STS. Unless you're sticking to spotting from the truck or from a horse go for the 65mm. The 80mm is just too bulky IMHO for backpacking.

I have the 65 ats and absolutly love it, the angle is way easier on the neck when glassing for long periods. I was able to take mine and a 80ats out and test in diff light conditions and was hard pressed to tell the differnce. Great scope. My only complaint would be withe the angle lence spotting from the pickup window is really tough and steep down hill can be tough. That said I wouldn't trade for a straight though.
