Hello all...

I am planning a canoe trip this summer from Tuya Lake (NW of Dease Lake), down the Tuya River to near its confluence with the Stikine River. Does anyone have any information about the river (ie grade, whitewater, obstacles), things not to miss, the surrounding country side, fishing, wildlife ect.? Any information would help.

Regards

Very nice country Mike, need a camera with a huge memory card, gets shallow in August with some fast water but generally ok.

I guided out of Tuya Lake for a bit, and can tell you that the river is teaming with grayling. Countryside is fairly open with the odd Grizzly Bear intermixed on the Plateau's. You should also see moose and caribou. Like previous writer said, the head waters can be shallow in August, but still should be fine for a canoe. The bottom end, closer to Telegraph Creek can get swift, it you get a bit of high water. The Lake is stocked with salmon fry, but the salmon cannot make it back up due to a falls which you will have to fiord.

Cheers
