Dominican fishing

I was just down in Punta Cana and went out fishing for 4 hrs. We chose our rods and the guy I was with (Terry from Toronto) caught this Mahi Mahi. I think it was about 20lbs. I had a hit on my side at the same time but it didn't stick... It was Terry's biggest fish
Nothing else that morning but I enjoyed the trip and guys we chartered with were great. We were on a 37ft Bertram boat, good condition with excellent gear. $250 for my wife and I for the 4 hrs.

I had a friend that was recently down there, paid, went for the four hours, they got nothing but bad weather and his son caught a garbage bag, great means of spending 400 bucks!~

My friend and I went fishing in Puerto Vallarta last February. We caught 4 Bonito and a Dorado (Mahi Mahi) that weighed about 30 pounds and measured 49 inches long. While fishing we saw lots of dolphins, 4 whales and a Manta Ray that was about 15 feet across. We had an awesome day!
We are leaving on the 6th for 2 weeks of fun in the sun and are planning a day of fishing with Capitan Pablo.

When I was in Punta Cana last year, we went on a snorkling tour and the guide said that one of the fancy hotels hosts a Marlin fishing derby...the winner gets 30,000 dominican pecos, a fancy car (I think it was some Jaguar or Porche - something like that) and he said the winning fish that year was 405 kgs...yes kilograms not pounds...can't immagine catching something that big|!!

Went fishing in Costa Rica once and hammered the yellow fin and mahi mahi! In 5 hours we had over 20 tuna / trevallie and 8 dolphins the biggest of which was 40lb some of the best fishing I've ever seen and awesome fights. Too bad the sailfish only jumped around us and didn't bite! Looks like you guys are having fun have a cold beer on the beach for me!

Thats so cool, I had the chance to try Mahi Mahi in Cancun. Boy was it great. Looks like you had yourself a fun trip.
