Looking for someone who wants to hunt spring grizz and caribou in the fall. Grizz anywhere and caribou around dease lake. I can cover transportation as I have a beaver on floats that I fly year round off the coast and will use it to get me to where ever I need to go. let me know of any interest and maybe we can put a hunt together. Not looking for $$, just some guidance as to where the caribou are. PM if interested

Thanks

I guess a lie could still get lucky and produce......I hav seen a lot of caribou in the area but I never have time to HUNT. This year is to be different but I won't have more than a week in the dease area. I will certainly post pics once I get to the hunt. I am looking forward to grizz this spring as well.

Hi, 25tikka, in the fall of 2006 a buddy and I flew with Bruce from Dease approx 45 minutes by air north east to a Cry or Caribou lake, we stayed for 7 days, saw 3 moose, 2 first day , same 2 next day shot one and the grizz was there before it was all loaded into the boat, it was 6 days before we saw another moose my buddy shot it and then we saw the bear for the second time [ we didn't know till then one half a moose was gone already and buried 50 yds from camp we went and dug up the meat and brought it back to camp] the bear became a real camp friend, not leaving us alone all night. The next day we were loading up the plane with the bear about 50' away and we saw our first caribou swimming across the lake, I don't know if I want to go back there, but I'll think about it. Ps we went the 10 of Sept.

Considering you've got your own bird I'd fly up there and find a puddle. Most guys get dropped off and hunt the 'lakes with names'. There's caribou over most of that country - always nice to stay off the beaten path if you can.

You can check in and get gas from brokeback charters in Dease on your way up. He'll let you know where he's got hunters dropped off.

Take a moose tag!

You won't get along with that miserable old bugger if you don't have a sense of humour.

If you're a PITA you might just find all your gear on the east side of the dock at Dease lake.

Got this Mature B&C Bull Northwest of Dease Lake. He had the biggest body I have ever seen on a caribou and had a beautiful white mane, most bulls up there are darker, he also had a big ol' roman nose on him. We got some nice bulls Southeast of Dease, also got a few Northeast of Cassiar. I found it best to find some high ground with a good spotting scope. It sucks travelling for hours to find out your trophy bull does not meet the Ministry's standard of pts. Good luck, I hope to be up there too this fall.

Cheers
