Have you guys seen this thing. Anyone tried it in BC yet? Very cool. It's integrated with Google Earth. May be a cheap alternate to sat phones

we have been trying one out at work, so far it is working fairly reasonable. Will update you once we have given it the full test. DD

Thanks for poosting this O2... I have been looking at getting one also. I'm now in my 60's and sometimes mountain bike and hunt alone which is bothering my wife a bit.

My concerns at this point are:
1. It is just starting up and what if they go broke after I've invested my $170 for the unit what with startup costs, possible slow sales given the change in the U.S. economy, etc.?
2. What kind of response could I expect here in Canada if I pushed the 911 button given that the company offering the service is in the U.S. ?

I will be looking forward to your updates, DeadDog, as there is nothing like first hand experience. Are you just using the messaging and 911 functions or are you also using the optional tracking feature?

Anyone else with feedback would also be much appreciated.

Wayne click on the "buy now" link, it tells you price and up grade options. I was looking into PLB's (Personal Locator Beacons) and they can be pricey. This unit looks interesting, and will watch for feed back on them.

We have been using the tracking option and it works fairly well, not 100 % with the signals but certainly good enough to follow a guy. The 911 option is not set up in canada yet, they said they hoped to have it up in the next three months, will give updates as we use it more. DD
