Has anyone had any experience with Leupold Ultralight scopes? I'm putting together a light weight sheep gun and I'm leaning toward the VX-II 2-7x28mm scope.

It's going on a Browning Mountain Ti in 7mm WSM - but I'm worried about the effect of recoil on the scope.

I have a VX-III in 2.5-8 on my deer gun in 7mm Rem Mag and I love it. I've only had to adjust the sights once in the past 4 years and the glass is incredible in low light.

Will the Ultralight hold up as well?

Thanks for your thoughts!

it'll hold up just fine. I have a VXII 3-9x33 UL on order for my 700 Titanium in 260 which should come in a bit under 6 lbs with scope

a 6.5 lb 7mm WSM should deal out around 35 ft lbs of recoil energy, which is similar to a 8 lb 300 Magnum. Any Leupold, even a Rifleman, can handle that no problem

enjoy your light rifle! :D

I agree, no problem. I have a VXII 2x7 on a 30-06 and it is fine.

Thanks for the re-assurance guys -- I may still just go with another VariX-III, but the weight savings on the ultralight is tempting.
