I would think that an ol'timer like you would know the rulez by now......at least post a picture of the dead buck to tide us over until you get the mount up, or everyone is going to be all over you faster than a fat kid on a smartie:smile:

Steven,
"Rolltop flytying desk?"
Being a commercial tyer if I had a rolltop I would need a garage door opener just to access it. Spending the last nine years living in a cabin it has been that long since my wife and I had a meal at a dinner table. In my mind's image of the perfect "Man Room" a roll top flytying desk just enhanced the image!

Thanks..I am truly blessed with a wonderful wife who indulges my hunting and fishing and woodwork and flytying and sausage making and.well hmmm I AM spoiled..Susan alowwed me an entire room in OUR home so after a hectic day as a Paramedic I can come downstairs just sit and remember past hunts and adventures..and dream of ones yet to come..

If interested?? I have 3 MORE walls in that room chuckle..

Post em up!
I noticed that fly tying bench immediately. A lot of work went in to that and I can fully appreciate it.
I'm in the process of designing/building a rod rack, fly tying desk, reloading bench, book case and chest/bench for all my ridiculous hunting/fishing collections and library of literature.

Brambles no..its a chair tent for black bear hunting keeps me out of the wind and rain..and its comfortable...and limits scent..and I can move a bit without attracting attention..

Thanks Will..someday there will be a stone sheep and a 60 " moose...lol....always need a goal..

I'd love a place/room that I could visit and just kick back and enjoy my trophy's w/ a glass of whiskey or wine.... As it stands right now, my 'big' shtuff is displaced around the house, in places that aren't very condusive to doing this.

I've seen Srupp's pic's some time ago and they left me in awe, then. I simply need MORE home...

What a Ba$tard.

Steven-New mount and room look great:cool:!!!

I'm not fortunate enough to have my own cool "room" but I'm lucky in that my cool "space" is the entrance way, living and dining rooms. That way I don't have to retreat into seclusion to drift off into memories:grin:.

OT-Don't "convince" her..."tell" her where your future sheep is going. Just make sure you have a back-up plan for accomodations:grin:.

Without to much brain strain I think that California Ram is somewhere around the #30 spot in BC. I like the old grizz the best. YOU got balls with a grizz on the wall.

That grizzly deserves Ruppster story it truly was an amazing encounter over 2 WEEKS LONG ...but not nearly as satisfying as taking my buddy Tim for his FIRST grizzly hunt and us getting him # 32 in THE WORLD RECORD BOOK...I think I have been in on 20 grizzly harvests..

yes the room IS in our basement..

PMJ its 7 foot 3"..the cieling the grizz is around 8' squared..takes up one entire wall..

Will ..any time ..your welcome around my campfire or home anytime..spring grizzly..yes I have put in again also.

As for the decorating...well most of it was done by Susan and me..mostly Susan..

Steven, I really like the tying desk. I am working off a folding side table right now. That will soon change. What wood did you use and what stain?

srupp
01-07-2008, 08:40 PM
Tarp man..believe it or not its BIRCH..with a cherry stain...
my winter project is to make a "one of " tying desk..portable..the wood is "cloud maple " $375 for 3 pieces of 1x4..each 8 foot...Im not sure if I will sell it or give it away as a auction for one of the sites I frequent...

Plus I have a Swarovski crystal display and 2 kitchens to make cabinets for..on kitchen has 42 seperate cabinets..lol..a LOT to do before spring Grizzly season..

If you build a flying desk..I have some suggestions for organization of spools , threads, hooks etc...
