I have done limited digiscoping in the past.Always with two tripods or holding the camera behind the spotting scope.
I have a B&L Elite 15X45X60 spotter and considered replacing it and buying a complete new outfit{spotter and camera adapter}.After pricing out a new spotter and digicam bracket I decided to try and rig the spotter I have.
I found the Vortex universal adapter,it comes in two sizes depending on the eye piece of the spotter you are using.I bought the 43-65mm sized unit as the Vortex website said it would fit my spotter. It comes with a height adapter as well for different sized cameras.
One concern I had was with the location the adapter attaches to the spotter. It attachs by twisting down firmly on the spotter body.On the B&L elite scope and camera I have this happens over the zoom and focus adjustment dials.I must have my spotter set and focused before I attach the camera adapter. Not a big deal when you are taking pics longrange but I did find it odd.
I bought the unit from Eagle Optics on their website www.eagleoptics.ca (http://www.eagleoptics.ca)
I called them up tollfree,5 mins later and M\C card the adapter was in the mail. They shipped it expediated to amke sure it arrived in time for the holidays.Adapter was priced at $64.95 and came to $79.88 landed in BC.
This is the adapter with a Canon A570IS camera aboard,I just got the camera and it will be my lightweight hunting companion.

I have included some pics I have taken with the adapter and the A570IS,it takes about 3-5 mins to get all your adjustments made and the camera seeing the object clearly. The first pics are scenery from my sundeck.
The rockcut is about 1000m away
the first pic is with the spotter on 15X

These pics are clear but with some tuning I think they could be better.
To be continued.RB

Part two.
I went out today and took some pics of rams.
These pics are taken on 15X mag and at 200yds.
Decent pics but with practice I expect them to improve.

In closing I will say the unit is built of decent quality and with practice you will take great longer range pics. The Vortex DCA is covered by their no fault V.I.P. warranty forever should the adapter ever fail.RB

Good looking pictures. Have thought about doing the same thing for years, going to have to get off my butt and get the right equipment and get out there.
Those rams look to be in good shape and are almost legal. Have fun and keep the pictures coming.
