Finally got out for a quick drift for some steel today.
Water was lower than I was hoping but, we hammered down. Saw more fish than we hooked, including a couple bruisers around 15lbs that had lock jaw. Maybe the 20 guys down stream chucking at them all morning before they moved up put the spook on them. T'was busy on the river today.
My buddy hooked a bullet around 12lbs in some fast water and long line released her after about 5-6 mins. I brought in a 8lb summer run with a bit of colour quite some time later and thats about all she wrote.
Either way it's nice to get the skunk out of the boat, being the first trip out this winter.
A little flash flood should bring some freshies in and we'll hit 'er up again then.
Here's a pic of the hatchery doe that was released.

The winter springs are good as I last heard, although the winds been the shits as of late so not many guys have been out that I talked to., not since christmas anyways.
Prawning is wicked right now too, hope to get out in the next few days, I'll post a report if I do.

Youre right, it does look like a buck now that I look closer at the pic.
I never sexed him on the river.
Good attention to detail.
