Island Fly Fishing

Being fairly new to the island and to fly fishing, when does the winter steelhead run start? and where can I go? Im a total noob in the fly fishing world:) Thanks for the help

Depends what river. Mid Island rivers traditionally get there first big run of fish now. The Stamp should be good as should the Gold. For a small stream the Quinsam used to be fun to hit on Christmas morning, can't get too serious on a little creek like that.

Oyster Rivers usually later. Salmon we've done good as late as April.
