Firstly, My Uncle and I would like to thank everyone who provided us with info and advice on our hunt in the halfway.
Secondly, I'll mention that most of the precautions in the literature that is provided by the MOE in the buffalo hunting package are very accurate; this big boy was hard to take down and required quite a bit of lead poisoning. Shot placement is very tricky as the very large shoulder and leg comes back way farther to the guts than any other animal I've hunted. This bull didn't even flinch or show any signs of being hit 3 times hard with a 300 and a 7mm. I'm sure that this would have eventually killed him but you don not want to be trying to deal with one of these in a bad spot so he got a couple more in the neck to finish him off. The only info provided that is questionable is sex differentiation through horn shape. DO NOT assume that an animal is a bull because the horns curve in; we stopped at a ranch on the way home to look at some buf close up and 2 were standing sided by side one with straight horns (cow) and one with very curved horns (bull?, nope) both peed out the back! Other than sheer size of the animal, the only sure way to tell the difference is to look for the hair where the penis comes out.
Anyways after chasing them all around and up the mountains with some near misses and disappointments, I found this bad boy by climbing up a ridge and looking below into clearings not seen from the road. He scores within an inch or 2 at the most of the B&C min and both Uncle and I are very satisfied with out trophy. Here is a pic.....:D:D:D
