A friend has a 6 point in his shop that could be his dady. The antler is mostly leaning back, kinda normal, but the position on the skull is about the same and the same side. Has a third antler 3" or so in-between the 2 main beams.

crazy to think there's animals with genes that potentially cause abnormalities like that...

You're welcome, thanks for posting , I find many hunting threads like this one don't even get replies , and then they take the threads down too fast, hence why many ppl think this site is getting worse... as important and informative the political threads are, they get 95% of the posts it seems...

On different note, in your thread you were asking questions regarding scouting; trail cams are a great tool, year round..

My wife got me a couple of cams for Christmas. With the extremely low snow pack, I should be able to get them out early this spring. Hopefully by summer I’ll be able to post pics on here with out having to use a 3rd party site.

A few decent moose in that spot too. Ran into the first one at under 10 yds with two cows in November, that got the blood pumping! Just about got run over by the cows that didn't know I was there after he'd had enough of our staring contest.

If you can use a computer, even if you email pics to yourself, then use imgur, you'll get bigger pics, cheers..

I shot 2 wolves this year, a big black and a sub adult grey. My oldest boy got a sub adult grey the same day. 24 k of walking, tracking and hiking back out. We have a bounty here is Alberta. $300 a wolf. I will share the story here soon when I have some free time.

I have shot 5 wolves and missed at least that many as they are fast.

Elk season was short and sweet , almost stuck a arrow in a big 6 on 1 of 2 bow outings, then managed to get time off work for a few days, ended up shooting a dink meat elk small 3 pt… will have more time this year looking forward to it. How about yourself?

this would of been my first 7a bull, the next morning after this photo was taken I was checking the camera and he bugled on his own 100 yards away. After dogging him for 3 hours and having him at 30y multiple times , he finally gave me a shot at 70 yards, unfortunately my bullet seemed to of hit a tree branch in the jungle and got a clean miss. To make it sting more he came back and kept bugling but I was so confident a bull was dead I thought it was another bull bugling because I had 2 going that morning.

Right on man congrats, we should have a bounty here in BC too, but we all on here are aware of how snowflake our govt is...I shot my first one this last season, would have had my first in 2022 but I was thinking it could be another hunter's dog, long story..but I learned that day how fast they are..

Right on man, congrats on the 3 pt, any elk on the ground is a big success...for me my partner and I hiked into the high country where I shot a 6x6 2 years ago, but everything was fried from the lack of precip and hot weather... then went down to my elk spot #2, where we were on a huge herd bull the season prior, called in a 3 pt, and some wolves at the same time, shot a wolf, buddy almost got one too but had his safety on a split sec too long. Then bugled with another bull, but he wouldn't show himself, but sounded mature..that was about it..

A Quick Look at Big Buck magazine shows lots of big Alberta WT, and some N.E. BC ones too, right up there with the Saskatchewan bucks.
If a person wants a big WT outside of prime private land with exclusivity, they would need to eat, sleep and breath WT deer.

I will ask my son, he replaced 1 of my dead ones with his as he had it in his pack. He has equal results with another muddy in a different spot. They been out all winter too, I leave mine all out until they are dead or eaten.
Most multi packs are pretty shitty. Especially from big box stores. They manufacture them to hit certain price points. That said I have 2 double packs of primos cams from Canadian tire, and so far they are good, only complaint, no battery percentage symbol.

I used a few cheap stealth cams, they did ok. Got about 3 years out of most of the 3 pack. I was faulty shortly after purchase, I think they were a bit slow on the trails so butt pictures. Did ok on the licks as there is much more time.

The worst cheap 2 pack I had a was Moultrie. Both faulty from new. The most fickle was spy point, had firm wear issues a bunch, also had a spypoint geo pad for viewing and managing photos, also fickle, it was an android design, regularly failed. I have had dozens of cams now. The highest price was maybe $250, it was a Uway. It took amazing pictures for years, even of flying birds and worked in -30 something. The display quit a few years back but it still produces pictures. The dates are off now as no way to set. It’s probably 5-6 years old. I had an old Moultrie last about 6-7 years and work in all weather and was fast on the trigger. The bears and cow elk eventually wreck them or rip them off the tree…..That why we have to keep shooting them. Lol

The muddy is a very good Cam. Quality photos, zero false triggers, and a fast trigger. Will buy more for sure.

They have video option type ?

My son says it has video, as far as he could recall. I pulled SD cards on Monday, and was in a mad rush so didn’t stare at it too long. He says it was from a 2 pack sold at Peavymart. Somewhere around $100 to $150, so they may be a top performer for a cheap cam.

So here's a question for you all: I actually passed on this bull moose during the spike fork season, I contemplated shooting him for several minutes....is he legally a spike fork? It doesn't appear to be a calf, snout is too long, he has visible bony antlers, meeting the legal definition of a bull, and he has less than 2 points? What's your thoughts?

I killed one just like that 8-10yrs ago….No decision needed, all it needs is a bony projection…..
almost killed a big bull one year after it broke off one side leaving a 6” long main beam, unfortunately I pissed around tool long and he took off before I was able to get a shot.

I’ve bought 2 or 3 3 pack of stealth cam from cabelas. They result in the highest number of faulty cameras for me. Some didn’t even work out of the package. I will try the muddy. But those green primos ones I will keep buying on sale I’m completely satisfied with those. Hoping to bump my fleet up to 15 this year.

OK awesome thanks for the reply... and that's what I thought after I re-read the regs, after I didn't shoot... but like it says, when in doubt don't shoot, so I'm happy with my decision from that standpoint..

Stealth cams have given me problems as well. I have a few old Simmons cameras that are working well. I want to add a few more so I will try a muddy or Primos next. Currently I have 4 out

I have had decent luck with wild game innovations also. A bit slower on the trigger than so would like but I have had about 8-10 now and they last between 2-5 years, not too many false triggers. They don’t just outright die, they will put out white washed pictures during the day or dark ones in the night, I think it would be something going wrong with the infared flash, still got a few years out of it after that. My cams have been out to -56 so if they have problems sometimes I think it’s just the abuse they get. I had a few of these cams say no sd when the sd was in, I just pump the sd in and out a few times to restore continuity and then turn of and back on and good to go. I don’t by the expensive cams hardly ever. $75 to $150 for most. Batteries last about a year +-, not even running lithiums.

I heard those moultries are just scum lol

Interesting a lot of you guys have had issues with the stealths, all 11 of mine seem to be working fine but I only started usin cams spring 2022 so I guess time will tell, use lithiums and they stay goin for over a year. But maybe some are missing shots as I have never set up 2 on the same target.

Will be buying muddys I think for my next 3

On the cheaper multi pak cams, the trigger time and sensitivity can vary, so have o be set-up pointing along a trail instead of across
We have tons of pics of the last foot or tail going past, or the rear half of a rear tire on a quad

A white Black bear. Its been in my area for about 5-6 years. Saw it once when it was smaller running with a black phase. Thought it was a male and female hanging out but it might have been 2 kick outs. I have had it on cam many times, never seems to grow, never has cubs, it has black eyes. I wonder if its an infertile female? [url=https://postimg.cc/N5tC4NNC]https://i.postimg.cc/TY58TFnx/IMG-8980.jpg

Just awesome !!! Lets see how long it takes to be labeled a "sprit bear" and the call from the ill educated to call for a closure ( in place ) to protect this animal. Back in the day before my legs gave out, and there was no shame associated with putting game on the dinner table, I probably would have passed this bear up--- because I hunted for meat, and its a small bear. Damn-- the stories we old farts could tell...... https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/rare-white-bear-visits-b-c-interior-town-1.755112
