Is there a website which one can download air photos of B.C. other than Google Earth. I would like to zoom in detail with clarity.

check this site out maps.gov.bc.ca (http://maps.gov.bc.ca/imf50/imf.jsp?site=imapbc)

there is an web map viewer tool you can use called imap, you can turn spatial data layers off and on. You get access to TRIM 1:20 000 airphotos mostly flown for Forestry purposes on crown land the are actually called an orthophoto i think they are from 2003. Might take a little time to get the hang of the using the application but once you do can overlay contours and roads on the imagery and make a PDF file that you can load on your PDA and take in the field or print and take hardcopy etc. One day soon we should be able to load on our GPS's for a basemap rather than the current crappy Garmin Mapsoure TopoCanada dataset. This stuff is mostly 1:50 000 and from the 1960's.

But really nothing beats using true hardcopy air photo prints made in a proper lab, the granularity and scale cant be beat. Not too mention using with a stereoscope in pairs so you can 3D stereo vision. Plus you dont have to rely on batterries.

Walks-For your neck of the woods try going throught the Regional District of the Okanagan Similkimeen website(RDOS). I can't remember if you can print maps off their site as it's been a while since I used it. I lost the link but I'll try to find it again.

Best internet map site there is.....I make maps for a living. You will need to fool around with the layers. elevation = contours, just a hint. There are orthophotos, hill shade, active cutblocks, roads whatever you want......it's on here.

This too is an incredible site, it shows recent cut blocks. It does take a bit of fiddling around with but well worth the time spent.
